  • Need help.

All of a sudden while riding I noticed that my bike was accelerating more than usual, i.e; it seemed as if the accelerator is kept pulled in.

I stopped and switched off/on the ignition. Now, my idling is over 2k RPM which was 1.2-1.4k earlier.
Also, I noticed some leakage near the shift lever. It wasn't there in the morning.

It's not from the drain bolt. It is clean. Where is this oil leaking from?

Also, see this video. Sorry for the crappy quality. Taken from my ice age phone in broad daylight.

EDIT: Issue resolved. It was a stuck accelerator cable.

Ya it happened to me too. The handle bar end weight rounds was tightly coupled with the accelerator and it was not closing completely. Thought the bike is having some problems and reminded me of my friends karizma R where the choke lever wasn't closed and the bike was idling around 2.5k rpm.

Did you recently lube the chain?

        • Oil leaking from left side near the side stand or gear lever 99% would be due to excessively lubed chain. This makes chain oil leak from sprockets. This dripping happens especially when you use old engine oil as chain lube, which most the service centers do. Solution for this is, buy 90 grade oil (transmission oil or gear oil) and put in a spray can or fork oil can. Lube the chain yourself when ever required.

No matter what you use, if you over do it, it will drip. The same has happened to me with TVS Chain lube, Used oil, SAE90 Gear oil etc.

But I'd say its a good thing, the excess oil seeps down and lubes the kick stand, making its operation silky smooth

            • Yes, if you overlube it doesn't matter what oil you use. But if you use used engine oil, its so thin and muddy, it will drip even for a little lube and make everything dirty. 90 grade oil is a bit thick, and if you use in limited amounts, it won't drip too much; same case with chain sprays.

And I agree, it would keep the side stand lubed, but it attracts lot of dirt, making it look ugly.

              • Yes, I lube the chain myself using a chain spray. I gave my bike for service last week. Maybe they over lubed the chain.

                  • I am also using the same. The bulb z working fine in my bike. I think you must have switched the bulb leads while fitting. Also how u fitted the bulb? Without removing the fairing only, right?

Actually.. i had a Projector fixed.. i changed the complete headlight assembly.. so they removed the fairing to remove the headlight assembly.. I am not sure what you mean by switched the bulb leads.. cos both the new bulbs happen to behave the same way.. while the stock bulb worked fine.. since both the new bulbs are behaving the same way... I am sure that its not the issue with the bulbs.. but something wrong with the way they fit the wiring back.. I am planning to go down to check on it.. but worried at the same time

There may be any fault in the way the leads are attached to the bulb..may be a loose connection. And,what did you do with your old headlight assembly??? and how much did the new assembly cost???
