You can paint it black also if you wish.

Scratches and dents will keep coming back. I also got my Karizma R's silencer cover when it got bent and had really bad scars due to a minor accident long time back. Cost was around 650. So replace it only when condition of the cover is really bad. Maybe you could post a pic of your bike's silencer so that members here can give you better suggestions regarding replacement or painting whichever deems fit.

Instead of paint i shall advice for a carbon finish sheet on silencer heat guard when there are more straches...

the cover has few scratches but I can also see scratches on the silencer main body? For those you have to paint that only, for cover you can replace it and do some coating like thing which could prevent it from further scratches.

If I were at your place, I would have used this cover for some more time and then get it replaced with a new one. Till then little bit of waxing will keep it shiny. I suspect there are
only scratches and no physical damage to the cover.

However, here I am talking like this only considering the financial point involved in replacing, if money is not a problem then you may get it replaced as soon as possible.
