Bro is it like tak tak tak sound? Like the sound you get while riding slower on a higher gear? Like the sound that comes before the engine goes off due to very lpw rpm?Originally posted by rreneav1987 View Post

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Nope.. thats not the sound.. i used to get that sound when I was using Motul 300V even after a 10kms ride.. now even after that 60kms ride.. i didnt get that sound.. this sound was more like either the timings chain or the tappet.. i am guessing its the timings chain.. how much will they charge to fix and how much will a new set of timing chain cost me? any idea??Originally posted by abhi7013 View PostBro is it like tak tak tak sound? Are u sure it's not the chain?Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostMy experience with Rimula R4 is wonderful.. I am just worried about the little noise coming from either the engine or the head.. not able to identify it.. it happens only after riding her for some distance say 20kms or more... I will probably have to take the bike for a check up this weekend after riding the bike for more than 20kms.. so that i can show it to the SVC guys..Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Timing chain costs between 150-250rs. If its not in stock then try the unicorn's. Its a direct fit..Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostNope.. thats not the sound.. i used to get that sound when I was using Motul 300V even after a 10kms ride.. now even after that 60kms ride.. i didnt get that sound.. this sound was more like either the timings chain or the tappet.. i am guessing its the timings chain.. how much will they charge to fix and how much will a new set of timing chain cost me? any idea??
Btw, I mention that tak tak noise is similar to the sound I get when moving in lower speeds at higher gear rite. That problem is present even after checking the fuel pump for flaws. Also no fuel blockage was present due to dirt.
After riding in traffic or for 15kms, or in general when the engine becomes hot, I get that sound while accelerating in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. Rpm would be at 4-5k. And when I attain about 70kmph and when I open throttle, the sound becomes more and the bike jerks. Pull is not uniform. The bike jerks as if the engine was turned off. It happened both before and after oil change. So its not related to oil. Nor to the fuel pump as I got it checked recently. Please help guys.

Jerking, eh? Triaging becomes difficult on an FI bike. I assume you gave your bike for service to Dream Machines recently, so they'd have taken care of:Originally posted by abhi7013 View PostBtw, I mention that tak tak noise is similar to the sound I get when moving in lower speeds at higher gear rite. Injector cleaning
Chain/Sprocket tension
BTW, how old is the sprocket kit? I remember you changed your clutch + pressure plates some 8-9k kms ago.
Also, you're using Shell petrol right? I may sound silly, but change your petrol bunk and see. But, first of all, you need to reset your ECU. Disconnect the terminals (both) of the battery for half an hour and connect it back. Let it re-learn for a few days.
Also, get your engine decarbonized. psr sir, would the bike jerk due to extra carbon build up over the piston?Last edited by Divya Sharan; 06-13-2013, 09:30 AM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Bike jerking could also mean wiring.. ignition coil terminal loose.. or the starting coil terminals need to be cleaned..Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostJerking, eh? abhi.. does your bike jerk when sudden acceleration is given or it happens only at a particular speed or rpm?

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Since ZMR is a Fi engine, hence for bike jerking /surging,suspect inadequate Fuel pressure , or lean AFR due to clogged Injectors......checking for vacuum leaks in inlet is also warranted....when i switched over to Rimula, the Tappet noise could be heard clearly, and so had adjusted it.......the engine behaves the same after 1,200 Kms with R3X ,as when the oil was new...oil had become darker slightly, but looks good for another 1,000 kms...though I will change it at another 300 Kms..When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

But sir.. I just have one doubt.. if it was the tappet/timing chain.. shouldn't it be audible even during cold start?? and not when the engine is warm/heated up...??Originally posted by psr View PostSince ZMR is a Fi engine, hence for bike jerking /surging,suspect inadequate Fuel pressure , or lean AFR due to clogged Injectors......checking for vacuum leaks in inlet is also warranted....when i switched over to Rimula, the Tappet noise could be heard clearly, and so had adjusted it.......the engine behaves the same after 1,200 Kms with R3X ,as when the oil was new...oil had become darker slightly, but looks good for another 1,000 kms...though I will change it at another 300 Kms..Splendor - 2k to 2006

Divya bro- when I gave bike for changing the handle bearings I just told him to check the fuel pump. It was not a complete service. He only checked the fuel pump and said its good.
Jerking is more observable while accelerating at full throttle in fifth gear. It starts at 5k rpm and keeps jerking voilently in all the rpm ranges. Crossing 110kmph has become impossible. This happens only when the engine is heated. Like in dense traffic or a 15+kms long ride.
For eg, in the drag I had day before there were no issues. But yesterday night while riding in heavy traffic I expected the bike to jerk. So in an open stretch I accelerated and the bike started jerking.

My bike used to get a jerk in every gear when the SVC people ruined by opening the engine and parts changes i.e Cylinder kit....pistons...valves...
Later on they need to open it again and re-work the same parts.....now its fine...

when you say jerking.. do you mean like how it happens if the bike is running out of petrol??Originally posted by abhi7013 View PostBro changing to rimula has not affected anything. Before change and after change the condition is same.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Am not sure about why that happened in the case of your bike..Originally posted by veryhiphop View Postyes correct..
abhi.. I think it could be because of the Air Filter.. did you try as suggested by Divya Sharan and psr sir.. removing the battery and leaving it out for some good 20-30 minutes and resetting the ECU so that it can re learn.. usually this hiccups happen with carb bikes with performance filters.. because of the Air to Fuel Ratio and the smaller jets which cause such hiccups..
Same might be in your case except you are using an FI which means the bike will learn automatically and change the AFR automatically.. but resetting the ECU Map might help it learn.. again.. am not sure... this is what I have experienced with my 2003 Karizma...Splendor - 2k to 2006

yes contacted psr sir....from his view it is lean AFR issue...suggested to check fuel pump/injector/sensor ...but all was fine...issue was in the setup of parts not been done properly by SVC...later on found valve spring broken....even HM engineer not able to sort out....but in last SVC re-open engine and replace all parts/resetup...which sorted out all my issues....
