After going through the thread I finally decided to post my ownership reivew of my new White Karizma ZMR(aka white knight).

Bought the vehicle on 3rd march 2010 with lot of hopes even though i used to ride the older ZMA-R model for more than 2 yrs. Touring being a passion the ODO on the last vehicle was 35K in just 2 yrs with almost 30K on the highways. So the experiance i had with karizma was mind boggling. Thought of P220 but the thing came in my mind was "Reliability", i am not sure when i will start the bike and will be off for a long tour or visit my relatives staying 500 kms apart. So nailed it down to the newer bike.

Once it was delivered the first thing that impressed me was the engine sound, it had some new music and better beats which was missing in the older one. Took the vehicle out and next surprise was the pick-up. Not that great but better than older model, believe me it was a head turner. Did couple of small rides spanning 100-200 kms in the first 1000K running in. Also did a Bangalore-Tirupati ride as soon as i touched 1K kms on the ODO. The engine was smooth, no heating issues and man what an avg. Even though the speeds were a constant 90-100 got an avg of 43 which was really impressive.

Did a 130 top speed and bike was damn stable, its been more than 7K on the ODO and no complaints with it, found that its a tab better than the carb version but even that one was a sweet heart.

Here's a glimpse of my older sweet heart "Eagle",
    thanks for sharing, nice review.

BTW -my bike has finished 10,000 km today.

@satyajitrtc: its heartbraking to hear such bad newses. But as there is no heavy damages, try to thank the machine. And I suggest you to test your machine in higher speeds at higher rpms for vibrations. Just check to make sure.

Dont think twice. Just recheck and change the oil if it's that much dark.

BTW I am totally dissatisfied with the service I am getting from HH. From the day of delivery till date. The work supervisor's are too careless and they wont hear us properly. I told them during 3rd service that I have some roughness in my engine and the problem of transferring heat to tank is happening always. They did not mind and done nothing. Then, on 19th june my bike got a slip and got some scratches in my right upper fairing.. I went to svc and met the service manager. I informed him that I need the right upper fairing, Silencer guard and righ balancer. He assured me that they ll book the spares soon and call me when the spare arrives. Nothing happened in this regard till today.
So I wrote to Delhi regarding the matter on 13th of august and I got calls from 4 company officials and they offered me that they ll do the needful for the engine probelm without delay. Then again, the goddess of ill-luck met me on 19th august... My left lower fairing and its connections to left upper and right lower cowls were broken when a kitten hit my fairing when I was riding at speed higher than 90 kmph. Called the service manager on August 20 th again and told him the story and i told him that I NEED THE WHOLE FAIRING. He informed me that he ll book those in emergency and ll make it available within one week. I waited till 28th of august. Called him many times. Nothing happened. He could not even inform me a status too. So I sent a mail to Delhi on 28th. After 4 days I got a reply from them informing that they have forwarded the mail to the SVC for follow ups......Again I waited till 4th of september and again I wrote to Mr. N Ganesh at Delhi to inform him that I have no news about the spares after all these days. On the same day I got a call from regional service manager of HH and Service manager of svc called me and informed me that some items of my request re only processed and they need another 10 days to get the spares I have requested.
So they simply want me to wait for 25 days to get these spares is also included in it.............
I owned Yamahas and Bajajs earlier. I never faced this much delay even for mechanical spares...........I think its unfair. When these people launch a bike with fairing and headlamps with windshields and all other things......won't they know that these bikes ll need spares like fairings and the like????

Just consider that I am a keen tourer. I have completed 10500 kms on 79 th day of delivery. And I missed my 3 major trips on these days...........
started riding a motorized cycle on a chetak classic.
Learned to accelerate on Y RX100&135.
Learned not to fall down, the patience to heal wound on knee and to ride long on a classic Pulsar 150(still running)&180.....
Planning for more dream destinations on a new ZMR

            ANMOL,
Change Engine Oil soon. Do not take any chance Buddy.
I change in every 1000 kms since I ride in City conditions.

            PRAVEEN,
Will surely do that this weekend. Will ride @ 100 kmph to test for vibrations.

Yes, the Service quality sucks but I am fortunate that I have a good SVC person. But again PARTS are something which is killing us all.

In case you TOUR to this part I will volunteer your BIKE Servicing.

                  • here`s some news about
                    Synthetic Vs. Mineral Oil

The only basic difference between synthetic oil and mineral oil, apart from its manufacture and origin, is the molecular and particulate structure of both the lubricants. Synthetic oil being a perfected product, has a very even and uniform structuring of molecules and particulates. On the other hand, mineral oil contains uneven and less uniform molecules as compared to synthetic oil. Now, when the car, engine, piston and piston block is new, it is always advisable to use, mineral oil. The uneven molecular structure of mineral oil makes the uneven surfaces of the components and auto parts rub with each other and erode, thus making the surface even and smooth . This is very useful, as the young components of the engine get into shape and adapt to the mechanism. As the engine grows older, the components, get into shape and start running swiftly without any friction. This is where one should start using synthetic oil. This oil basically keeps the engine in shape and helps in increasing the durability of the engine.

There are several other advantages and disadvantages of synthetic oils as well as mineral oils. Going into the details is pretty difficult and also complex. The debate synthetic vs. mineral oil is almost as old as the time since they were found and is getting more and more complex day by day, due to the advancements that are being integrated in lubrication. The conclusion that which oil is better, hence still remains undecided.

If the time is too prolonged, try contacting heads of zonal offices or the plant. The numbers are given on the Hero Honda website. You will definitely get prioritized solution soon.

Yes we do have oil filters and generally we change it during the replacement of clutch plates only. Not regular intervals. (Please correct me if i am wrong).

Good excuse but at bad time. What you mean by new launch? A bike is considered as new launch even after 1 year...........
Just ask some Karizma R owners about their experience.
Its good to post your query in the website. But put in good words.they ll reply. Then they will inform you that WITH THE COPY OF YOUR MAIL WE ARE REQUESTING THE M/S SVC TO LOOK INTO YOUR QUERY AND DO THE NEEDFUL. I got it before 1 month. lol......
