Just 35 days before i took my YELLOW ZMR in bangalore and i made 2007kms. And really i had a very worst experience when i had a travel from chennai to bangalore, were my self-start failed in middle of that By-pass road because of some wiring issues then i loaded my bike in a load auto and took it to the kanchipuram Hero honda showroom were they rectified all the things and they told the first service which were done in bangalore " SAI RAM MOTORS " its of useless.......And now my question is whether anyone faced the same problem...
And clutch wire also got cut in 1600 kms and i replaced that in SOUTHERN MOTORS, NANDANAM( CHENNAI )..
Most HH A.S.S are equal when it comes to proper serrvice...Good A.S.S are a rare breed.....Sorry to note that your experience with ZMR is not good...It has many connectors like any modern Bike, and if they are not locked in place, then the vibrations while riding makes it develop loose contact.
The stocK ZMA and ZMR comes with NO CLUTCH AND ACCELERATOR CABLE LUBRICATION, and are tough to operate from day one....You have had your clutch wire change......now BE PREPARED FOR ACELERATOR CABLE GETTING CUT.
Best would be to buy the Accelerator " A ' and " B " cables( yes for accelerator there are TWO cables) and keep it inside the bike as a safe guard.

This recommendation is made by all oil/motorcycle/car companies in the world . At temperatures much below zero however , where oil flow at initial cranking is of larger concern than engine heat wear , 10w30 is better . I would not depend on a 10w30 oil to maintain film strength and provide optimum engine protection when I am riding out there when the street temperature in sun is past 45C , which I have measured .

I do not believe that all HeroHonda bikes already owned by people countrywide suddenly developed a weakness in their oil pumps , as to be unable to pump a 20w40 oil ( they themselves were recomendding servo 20w40 in their manuals ) ; no sooner than herohonda started to market their own rebottled 10w30 oil .
Yes , as per the conditions laid down in the user manuals (haven't read the whole of my cbz manual , have read all pages of my splendor manual ) the warranty shall be void if you use ANY other oil than the HeroHonda super duper 4T plus snake oil, no matter the make or grade . They go as far as to put a sticker saying this on the splendor tank .
Thanks for the briefing...after all these decisions i should go to 20w 40 grade oil...

Also, is there a Oil Filter in ZMR...if yes, has some change it? and when it need to be changed?
I inquired with my SVC they said open a fuel tank cap and after 2/3 seconds close it...

However, when yesterday evening i start and it start instantly...i didn't open a fuel cap....

First of all thanks for the information you shared... Then is that the only solution for these clutch & accelerator cables, That we need to carry a spare always. And whether any warranty is there for these clutch & accelerator cables ....And regarding this wiring problem you think its of a minor issue!

I am sharing what others have shared with me...regarding your queries.:

          1. Yes under warranty/guarantee HH should change the parts ....but they will tell you that they don't have it in stock, and you have to wait till it comes...since we can't be without the bike it is in our own interest to buy and keep it as spare...further it is better to learn to do DIY so that even if you are caught with any of these problems you can ride the bike out to the nearest A.S.S. or mech, and not look for a bike transporter....it is a frustrating experience esp., if you are on a tour or doing any long ride.
2.Please furnish details of what exactly was done to correct your problem..I had presumed that the A.S.S had done the work and given the bike to you immediately, and no parts had been replaced. ...because you have a new bike.
Ensure your A.S.S. lubricates the cables in every service apart from the chain and sprocket

Else where in " Help Me "another thread "Karizma fuel cap problem" it was the ignition switch problem as reported by the owner which led to the sudden stopping of the engine...the owner had tried switching On/Off and the bike started and ran without issues...so I think the Ignition switch loose contact should also be checked and corrected for this intermittent engine stopping.

I was also thinking the same and will check for ignition switch loose contact..but when i push button the lights in meter console (i.e. neutral ) blinks a little bit as they normally do?

Since i am not facing this problem in my 4 yr old ZMA, the best i can do is to be a postman and try post here what others had actually gone through...Sorry can't think of anything beyond this..

                • Engine oil is a key determinant for efficient motorcycle performance and increased engine life. Hero Honda 4-T Plus Genuine Engine Oil is a premium quality engine oil, engineered to meet the lubrication requirements of Hero Honda Engines. Hero Honda 4-T Plus conforms to International specifications of API SJ SAE 20 W 40 / 10 W 30 (JASOMA) specifications.
As per HH website... Don't know why they have mentioned 20w40 oil when they don't sell it... But I think use of 20w40 grade oil is perfectly OK esp in hot climates and continuous rides...

I got my bike serviced yesterday, previous service was about 2500 kms ago so bike was little rough... After servicing and oil change, it's again super smooth... I think if we stick to HH oil, it's good enough; the only thing is we should change it every 1200 to 1500 kms...

P.S.- I bought two oil cans, emptied one can and took 200 ml from another... Luckily I got oil manufactured by idemitsu

If you look further in their site for the recommended oils for various bikes..you will get the answer...10W30 for all the bikes.

The HH oil becomes black and thin in about 800 Kms after which it's use as an oil is questionable...better a good JASO MA2 oil of 20 W 40..

                            • @psr'jee correct info ... I am so torn between the zma & zmr , there things i like and don't about each . I feel they should let us select & customize the things we want on the bike and those we don't , atleast in the so called premium segment .
Please confirm this from an actual packet of clutch-cable unit , as far as I can recall ( I haven't had a broken cable in years ) ... HeroHonda clutch cables are friction-free type , coated insides with some kinda anti-friction stuff , never to be oiled or lubed for the life of the cable . Such cables shall jam/fail & break soon after being oiled or greased . This may also apply to the other control cables , I am not sure . Don't depend on the Service Centre jokers to know this , friction-free cable units should be clearly marked so on the packet . Again I am not 100% about this , need someone to confirm this from an actual pack of cable unit purchased from HH .

                              Bon voyage Sachin .
