HID headlamps for ZMR
Originally posted by microsoft_guy View Postwell the HID is not a basic fitting that comes with ZMR, it totally depends on you whether you want to take it or leave it. Btw we can plan one more ZMR meet in bangalore...last time there were 5 zmr's that went on a ride to kanva dam. this time we can plan for something better......
Does the HID bulb put any extra load on the battery? I mean, does it cause flickering of the display when starting up, dimming of display when headlamp is switched on, etc.? Do we need to upgrade the battery to 14A?
BTW, I'm also from Bangalore.

well as far as i have seen the HID should not cause either of the problems you have mentioned above...but it does reduce the total battery life by about 30%(so batt can go kaput in like 2 yrs which has usual life span of 3 yrs). Also the reflector might burn if you are riding it for the entire night....not too sure on that

Both are 2 different vehicles.
ZMR engine is very refined and it has a good riding posture. 180 has a more sporty riding posture.
I had a 180 for about 5 years, I sold it about a week back and booked a ZMR.
FE wise both will give around 40+
VFM you need to decide. ZMR is 1.2Lakh where as a 180 will be close to 75K. You need to pay close to 40K extra for ZMR. Go for what your heart says.Regards

Head Lamp Observations
Dear FRIENDS,
For the first time after around 5400 kms did a night driving of around 50 kms on 04-Nov-2010.
From my Office in Central Kolkata to North Kolkata @ my in laws place with my better half.
The entire route was mixed with City Traffic, Expressway and pitch dark road (10 km approx.)
Need HELP & SUGGESTIONs.
1. Headlight in dark Roads
sucks. Proved. Need something alternative.
2. I always drive with my Park Lights/Hawk eyes always illuminated even in DAYLIGHT.
3. Use the pass light/dipper uncountable times even in DAYLIGHT. It always alerts the vehicles. More than my HORN.
4. Under the above conditions should HID/higher wattage Lamp is better or worse off, I do not know.
5. Planing an additional light without changing the stock. Use it when necessary @ Night.
6. Can be installed in the place of front License Plate.
Some issues observed.
I observed some engine knocking sound @ 50 kmph on a plain Road with 5th gear.
This occurred at intervals only when accelerating from a lower speed & lower gear to higher one obviously.
Is there anything optimum speed for every gear (Speed & Gear Ratio)
Some pics from our DIWALI meet.34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

well i am using OSRAM night breaker, it costs around 750-800. I do all my trips mostly at night...and am pretty impressed with the NB. Its a 55-60 bulb and a direct fit as a replacement for the stock.Originally posted by satyajitrc View PostDear FRIENDS,
