+ 1. In Fi bikes...we do not need to open throttle while starting..

      • Thanks to Sachinnair, veryhiphop and anmol_1990 for your valuable suggestions on ZMR/ZMA-R.

Update: I called the Hero Honda dealers in my city to find out about the ZMR, surprisingly they had no stock. Adding fuel to the fire, they even refused to take booking. Called up the Hero Honda Regional Office to highlight my plight, then came some solace from one of the officials taking my number and said would help. The current situation is that each dealer in city are given only 5 ZMR/month, however, they have booking for 50 vehicles per dealers, thus resulted in backlog orders. Since I'm not in a hurry said the Hero Honda guy, would not mind waiting for sometime, atleast please take the booking for god sake!

Guess, ZMR spares will be a treasure hunt for me.

OT: I had gone places to get spares for my 2T rebuild. Like many I would not wish to search for ZMR spares too. Just in case we find ourselves in a situation.

                Hi! SRIRAM,

Saw your earlier post but was afraid to suggest you since you know lot about bikes. Have seen your other threads too.

However regarding booking of ZMR some small suggestions

                1) Enquire in multiple Dealers. If Full Payment just drop a hint.
                2) Mention the Color options too.
                3) Call this Dealers every week to check the inflow & outflow.
                4) Never expect a call from the Regional Office of HH.

Trust me this entire exercise will work. However after DIWALI there is a dearth of all HH Bikes.

Probably I am the only chap in the forum who got ZMR (White) delivered on the same day and that too a SEVEN day old production Bike.
I do consider myself extremely lucky.

One thing is that some problems of ZMR are common and some are really stray like I changed my FRONT Disc Pads around 5000 kms.

Ironically my BIKE completes exactly SIX months today @ 5915 kms.
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

Probably not. They cannot cope up with the demand.

In fact IIRC the strikes @ the end of 2009 and early 2010 have severely dented the Supply Demand equation. Add to that the huge push for ZMRs.

Everything has gone haywire for them but it still sells.

I'm just a learner. I've just started to accrue knowledge about ZMR from you guys.

Thanks for the suggestion and tips. One more thing is that, calling around for the ZMR availability was just a ground check before proceeding. As I said earlier, would not hurry. Purchase in a hurry had not always gone right for me, bad omen. Least would take this opportunity to learn about the machine in due course.

Oh yes, you are lucky to get the ZMR which was just 7 day old from the factory. Point noted on front disc pads.

Just wanted to know the current status of ZMRs deliveries..?

Has HH got it rectified...or still people are given unnatural wait periods...?

According to the last info I had, spare parts is still a big issue..?
                      Welcome to the thread dude!!

Bikes are available here in Hyderabad without any waiting.
But, spare parts availability is a REAL HEADACHE.
Had to wait for 45 days to replace my right side fairing.

I am planning to buy ZMR now. I have gone through all the specifications of ZMR. The bike is very good in that and even looks are good enough. But please guide me with one issue. ZMR doesn't have kick start option. For this reason many mechanics are telling me to go for Karizma R. I want to ask you that can we totally rely on self start? Doesn't it cause problems afterwords? What kind of specific maintainance does it require?

Even today morning 7.30 am when i tried to start my bike it did not start damn.. that too in front of friend who owns P220 who just kept laughing.. He then gave DHAKKA and I managed to start the bike.

Cant believe this is happening even just after my bike has come from servicing. Its not got anything to do with battery I think as I had highlighted the problem in servicing and charged my battery full ..This has to be something else. but once it starts after that the starter works fine. Starter issue are random they happen rarely

Have been riding ZMR since April. Till date never had any problem with the starter, infact always starts in a single self. Only once, that too on my way home after servicing my bike, the bike stopped and refused to start. It wasn't an ignition problem. Problem was with a loose connection of a socket just above the battery. It was solved by just properly fitting the socket.

Though I'm a 2T fan. I would like to upgrade my other bike Honda Unicorn (2005) to a better for touring purpose. I did go through pages randomly for couple of days. However, need some better opinion on buying Karizma. I've not personally driven on ZMR, however, had experienced ZMA-R (old). I like the riding position and as well as the comfort.

Going through this thread found there are opinions that there isn't much difference on ZMR when compared with the earlier ZMA. The point of difference comes with FI, style and rear disc brakes.

However, my major worry is all about the after sales support - SPARES!

I had gone through the pains of procuring RX parts for my bike this year, trust me, would never recommend anyone to take up restoration as you will need to go places to get them. Phew! had enough.

I'm reading HH Karizma parts are being tough to get across the company showrooms which is a concern to me, even though the are still being in production.

What made me to post on ZMR thread? I wanted a cruise bike for long rides. Why not pulsars? Not that they are inferior, but they are not in my top list.

                            Need to know opinion on:
                            Long rides (800kms+)
                            Cruising ability (90kmph+)
                            Engine smoothness
                            Reliability (on long rides)
If you were to buy another one would that be ZMA-R/ZMR?

So I would appreciate if you can spare few minutes to write a line that would help me to to decide.
I ll give you a guy from chennai,
                            His name is Ananth
and you may even know him personally.............
In my opinion he is the best to give an opinion.........In my opinion he is the only man who took it for the lengthiest ride........and even he has ridden it on terrains...........and even around 8 States in India...........So just have a call............
started riding a motorized cycle on a chetak classic.
Learned to accelerate on Y RX100&135.
Learned not to fall down, the patience to heal wound on knee and to ride long on a classic Pulsar 150(still running)&180.....
Planning for more dream destinations on a new ZMR
