  • My ZMR xperience

Well here is what I would look forward to before buying a bike, which I believe is more or less the same for someone else, though preferences may vary from person to person
    Looks

    Here are some stats
    Overall length 2110 mm
    Overall width 805 mm
    Overall height 1175 mm

    Engine
The engine is the same reliable CB series from Karizma R. Added features are a disc type starter motor (that gives enhanced starting capabilities), oil cooler (for better cooling required due to front cowl), elimination of kick starter assembly and above all Programmed Fuel Injection. The engine delivers 17.60 bhp at 7000 rpm, which is lesser than what some other ingenious products from competition have to offer. But that is not the limiter for me considering the reliability factor. HH produces engines that are reliable, splendor, passion, cd dawn , cd deluxe, CBZ, Karizma all vouch for it. So I know that maybe I am missing out something on power here but the bike will be the same after years of riding. And anyways 17.6 bhp is more than enough to give you that thrust on full throttle and low gear. And the engine does a fairly decent job of providing that adrenalin rush.

    Top Speed and acceleration.

    Maneuvering and Handling.

    Average and Price
Average is one thing that every Indian will always ask even before buying a Bentley or rolls. Frankly speaking I have never measured the average, but I know it is disappointing. Even with the PGMFI I have to get my tank refilled every now and then and from what I feel my bike is not giving me an average above 30 at any cost. Perhaps this can be attributed to the fact that I almost always use NH-8 and cant stop myself from going 100+ when I am there. Some of my friends use SPEED instead of regular fuel and their ZMRs are giving good average. I am thinking of switching over too.

      nice one!
From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

So it is 800 kms a month which is pretty decent enough.
Approx 10000 kms a Year. Perfect.
Necessity of a vehicle is defined as 10000 to 12000 kms a Year.
Anything more is excellent and you reach the break even fast.
This assumption leads to 40000 kms in THREE years.

I daily ride for 40 KM...except for Weekends and raining day... Hoping to complete 10,000 before my last 6th free service in Jan. 2011

When i saw this thread i .............................................Frankly I have had some of the best biking times on my kinetic challenger. If I had that kind of money I would buy a R1 or Ducati or something but I would still enjoy as much on the road as I do with my ZMR (or perhaps just a little less, after all ducati is DUCATI )

Welcome to ZMR thread...Nice review...hope to see some pics..

They made a scratch on your tank. Why should you, for their mistake be given these 2 options (either to lose your precious autographed tank or use it with those scratches made by the svc guys) ??

Go and shout the above 2 lines in their ears and make them know how important 'it' is to you. They have to give you a new tank without taking the old one.
                hmmmmmm
                will tell them

                    AKSHAY,

                    Welcome in the Forum.
                    Welcome to ZMR Community.

Probably you can rethink your career options. You are a great narrator.

We have all written and read plenty of Ownership Experiences but I'll rate this one of the best.
Plain and simple things nicely said. I do agree almost everywhere.

Prepare yourself for some more challenges being someone from Hero Honda.
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

                            • To all long time ZMR owners:
How is your motorcycle's tail end holding up? Are there any cracks or tabs breaking off? I'm asking because I've changed my Karizma's RHS rear 3 times and LHS 2 times in 3 years. The plastic tabs and the portion near the helmet lock keep mysteriously breaking. I'm fed up of the pathetic quality of the plastics.
I may change over to the Zmr's tail based on your response.
What do I intend to do? Stuff ZMR drivetrain into an Ambition chassis and watch others run scared!

no..the plastics are good on zmr as compared to zma-r...this is from my own personal experience....i have changed the older zma's rear multiple times...but the new one still holds good even after 15k kms with good, bad, worst and off roading conditions....
2 wheels move your soul but it takes a long ride to actually realize it....tough-tourer
