  • Has anyone tried putting a Pirelli Sports Demon on an RTR?

Or any other tube less tyre?

    • For the front, get the R15 17" rubber. For rear, its best to get on the MRF Zapper C 3.00x18. Will improve performance (lesser contact patch than stock 100/80) and also improve handling.

      • Aren't the 3.00x18 tires far too thin for a 160 cc bike? Or am I also being one of those guys who wants a thicker, wider tire at the rear!!

are you forgetting that your more powerful R15 comes with a tyre similar in width and with even less contact patch???

          • I also felt the same, untill I hit the track with them on. Better handling and I'm using it on streets since the last 6 months. Brilliant tyres I must say. better than the stock TVS tyres, which are shiit.

The R15 comes with 100/80 tires. They are mounted on 2.5 rims(IIRC, forgot exact number) to give that rounded profile. I checked them out at the MMSC Yamaha championship.

@Joel : Instead, why not use both the front and rear tires of the R15 on the RTR. They are far lighter and grippier than any other tire in the market currently, right ?

              • Thanks Joel, Any idea on pricing?

Is the R15 front tyre normal compound or is special like the rear one?

@Aparajith- RTR has 18 inch rim at rear while R15 has 17 inch

                • ^^I think it is also soft compound like the rear.

The one fitted on the bike is IRC and other one is the stock tire of the R15.. now it looks fat right

                    • ^^Was very much looking for this pic. Now this clears up a lot of doubts about the R15's tires and its capabilities.

                      • The RTR has a 18" rear rim, while the R15 is 17".
The R15 has a pretty soft coumpound rubber. Blends really well on the track and on demanding corners on roads too.
Cost of R15 fr tyre is 950. rear MRF Zapper C for RTR is 1050. 2000 in total.

                          • Thanks Joel will check them out.

Btw I would be strictly using the bike on city roads(mostly concrete ones) & few highway runs & no signs of running on track. Would you still advise the same tires?

Since my tires are brand new(bike has run 686kms) I belive I can get some re-sale too, right?

                            • ^yup the old tyres can fetch u a few hundreds. The tyres I mentioned work really well on city roads and I have done a fair bit of touring as well. Good in rain and slush too.
