I remember seeing it on the owner's manual or the service centre manual that Kauria had shared sometime back. Its located somewhere around the throttle body if I recall right.Originally posted by vineet_fi View PostDemocracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. There's an idling screw in FI?? All this while I thought FI's idling could be set only by connecting it to the computer!Originally posted by Aparajith View PostCheck the idling. there is an idle screw available for adjustment. Use it. It can be done on ur own. No need of ASC.
Could you please tell me where I can find the idling screw? A picture would be of great help

Hey guys, just found out from the manual uploaded by kauria (as informed by Aparajith
) earlier regarding the idling screw
Now this says that the idle rpm should be 1400 +-100 even then it should not go down beyond 1300 where as most of us i guess have it at 1250. any ideas why??
@Aparajith: this says not to do it without the PC Diagnostic...what do u think abt that...would it be ok to do it??Last edited by vineet_fi; 05-25-2009, 07:29 PM.

That is because it is necessary for the engine to be warm. Note the ETS value provided. ETS stands for Engine Temperature Sensor. Run/Idle the bike for 10 - 15 mins and it should be fine.Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

my bike settles for 1200 in cold starts and idles at 1400 when hot....Originally posted by Aparajith View Post1. The idle rpm after cold start is at 1K only!!!
After heating up it settles to 1.2K.
my bike has done 5000 and my tappets SCREAMS.........Originally posted by Aparajith View PostTappet noise significantly high now.
the VIBES now at the handlebar comes exactly at 5200 and remains till 6200 that's 1000 REGION of SHEER VIBRATION earlier it used to start from around 4800 or so and now has reduced but yes my pillon lifts his legs off the rear pegs from 6500 RPM cuz at tht point the engine seems super smooth at the handle bars and riders pegs but it all gets tranfered to the pillion pegs.....it gets MAD after tht......Originally posted by Aparajith View PostThe vibes has reduced a lot now than it was during run-in. Earlier the vibe was high, pronounced and almost resonant during that 4.5K - 6K mark and not much above or below it. That 4.5K-6K vibe has reduced now and its a continuous ringing vibe thru'out the rev-range. The rider pegs don't vibrate so much, but the pillion footpeg is like....

i tried to find the DIFF but there wasn't any the IRIDIUM is not worth spending on atleast on this bike....Originally posted by Trigger View Postany noticable change when using the iridiuim plugs?
i'm running the reg plug now and it's doin just FINE........

today i changed the oil to Motul 3000. did it at a local mech. the mech was surprised at seeing the condition of the oil that was in the bike. he said the oil should have been changed earlier. I was surprised, cos I had my 2nd free service about 1500 kms earlier. two things could be the cause. one, the SC guys did not change the oil, or two, the TVS oil is of poor quality.
anybody having a similar experience? I hope they had changed the oil.
@apar, renny - thanks for your suggestions.Acta non verba

The TVS TRU4 is designed with the Star City in mind, not RTR. It will last u a good 1K kms only. Better take a can of MOTUL mineral/semi/fully - synth by ur preference and get it changed at the ASC during service or on the way back home after service(if the ASC's dont agree)!!Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Yap! I had to change the oil they added in 1st service within 600 kms. I have added castrol active right now. The power1 was unavailable.
Even after hundreds of settings still they scream?Originally posted by rennycornelius View Post

Happened to me too. I had the first service done and after about 500Km, I went to get the oil changed at the local mech. The oil came out ever so dirty and black. Ever since then, i always keep standing near my bike while getting it serviced and I see to it that they carry out each and every thing written on the service coupon. After 1000Km after each service, I get the oil and the filter changed at the local mech. I always get the Castrol Power 1. Huge difference from the TVS oil. My bike has done 7500 Kms since I got it in November 2008, and still flies like an Eagle. Vibes reduce on adding Power1. Once tried the Fuel Additives recommended by TVS. I found the vibes had increased. So now I only get regular petrol filled and thats that.Originally posted by Trigger View Posttoday i changed the oil to Motul 3000. did it at a local mech. the mech was surprised at seeing the condition of the oil that was in the bike. he said the oil should have been changed earlier. Vibrations - RTR
Good day,
I am writing you from the Dominican Republic and have purchased an RTR 160 two months ago.
-no manual was given - any idea where I could download one?
-have read in the threads here that the RTR is prone to vibrations but wow there seem to be a lot - just need to tighten everything down?
- there is a knock after accelerating and once you take off the throttle the engine makes a tkc tkc tkc (if you can get that) noise - what the heck is that?
Any help will be appreciated.

@ James: Welcome to Xbhp
You mean a knock kind of sound which comes from the engine and when u take off the throttle in very low rpm range, right, If your bike is a crab one then try to increse the idle RPM a bit, this may solve the problem.Try to set them at 1200-1300 range.sigpic
