          • Hi All
I need some seroius help...sometime back i changed my headlights to HID and for HID to work i had to connect it directly to battery...now the problem is that this is draining my battery so fast that i cant use self start and not even horn during night..
Some advised me to fit a installl something like in enfields to charge the battery..Has anyone done this on your RTR..Please give some suggestions..

            • Battery Drain

@ Ganesh Vijayamani, "The something like in Enfield" is the regulator rectifier unit. As per the industry standards the TVS Apache has one of the best RR units.

A.Get the wiring checked by a qualified mechanic for any short ckt or any wrong earthing/Connection .

B.Get the HID installation checked ( Is the Battery line bridged or bike is converted to DC)

A few days back I had a discussion with the proprietor of Ruby Auto Electricals. As per his words bridging will not help and will drain the battery and the only soln is to convert to DC which is approximately 1500 bucks(That is Headlight will draw power from the battery and the Alternator will supply current only to the battery like Karizma).

              You may contact him @

                • Thanks man for the reply..

My headlight is drawing current from battery.Except for the headlight was connected to battery no other changes were made.So i think the connection was bridged. Can you please tell me what all changes has to be made to convert to DC.

                  • Guys, surprisingly I fill my Apache with 10 ltr of normal fuel 02.02.09 and today it came to reserve. I hardly ride it for home- office - home a 20 km per day, now the total km I get is 380 from reserve to reserve, so the kmpl is 38 only. I used to ride it normally in city max speed is 60 in top gear sometimes.

What mileage u gets from ur bike?Am I running rich? Throttle response is very crisp, no problem with power delivery at all.

If it is over rich then how it get pass the latest PUC check on 07.02.09.Can u guess anything?

Any one install any type of tank pad in RTR?

                    • Alright Time for another update

The bike has done 4211kms so far.

In the current fill it returned a mileage of 45.6kmpl (Yay!!! ) this is purely city commuting in Pune traffic & I dont ride sedately

I believe the mileage is actully increasing as I clock more kms

In the last fill the bike was taken to Alibaug with a heavy pillion & was ripped all the way & it returned a mileage of 35kmpl, not bad I say.

I must say I am very happy with the way the bike is performing as it meets my initial requirements perfectly

i also got a poor battery, the speedometer restarts every time i use self, charged the battery last weekend from sc, and yesterday i saw battery signal in speedometer, so is it time to change it ? what to do to replace it under warranty, actually the sc guys over here always finds another solution to each and every problem of mine...

and how is it possible for the battery to weeken so fast, my bike is only 3 months old and crossed 3050 km so far, is the battery of rtr so weak in every bike ? or i am the only sufferer(and you) ?

45 kmpl is really good, i hardly get 42 in kolkata traffic, but once i am in highways i get nearly 48.5

Once i had enquired, they said it will cost around 10 k,so i dropped the idea.
you need to get new mag wheels, swing arm.disc assembly, brake lever and then the labour charges...
its not a good idea unless someone is ready to swap rear disc assembly..

That would have been awesome.if not 4-5 k they should have introduced some decent exchange program.
