Forget all this trouble and get the R15 tyre. Its the best in business. Ultimate grip levels.Originally posted by prafultripathy View PostThe P220/200 tyres a 90/90-17" Tubeless, its sizing is exactly like that of the stock apache tyre, and the grip is better than the TVS srichakra tyres too...
Incase you don't fine anything from imported brands you could give this a try..sigpic

Zapper C - 3.00*18. Many find it thin and stuff, but for me handling/traction/performance matters most. This is the best option available. The imported ones need a lot of trial and error.
the Zapper C is tried and tested on the track.sigpic

For normal bike (i.e. not racing), what would be the best? I read many places about Zapper Y and Q. What's difference, b/w these and C type? Thanks.Originally posted by Joel View PostZapper C - 3.00*18. Many find it thin and stuff, but for me handling/traction/performance matters most. This is the best option available. If a tyre is the best on track, it wil be equally good on streets roads as well. Grip levels matter the most everywhere.Originally posted by chauhan_saurabh View PostFor normal bike (i.e. not racing), what would be the best? I read many places about Zapper Y and Q. Those are different patterns. C is the most preferred one.sigpic

It may not be true .. tracks are different from the slippery roads you can encounter in the normal life. On track(which have really good grained texture), you can have smooth tyres too with slightly more rigid compound. That's what I read somewhere that in real life you need more grip given the same speed, and may need softer and rough textured tyres. That's why off road tyres has really prompt treads and so on.Originally posted by Joel View PostIf a tyre is the best on track, it wil be equally good on streets roads as well. *I am not questioning your knowledge, but want to clarify things which I had read somewhere.
Difference is just in pattern? or width/rubber softness are also different in these tyres?

actually apar...the new tire would be for the fi....i will use the fi's tyre for my bike.... honestly the fi needs new tyres more than my bike...Originally posted by Aparajith View PostNo idea about them, but I go by Joel's advice and so an R15's tires are going on my "brother's" RTR!
thanks for that explanation joel! I have just started exploring my bike but then i have very few tools in my hand.... planning for decently equipped tool kit.... and then start learning more...Originally posted by Joel View Post@sai - Ur plug is pretty good. but a bit on lean side since its all stock jetting.
The reason why one side of the plug is dark is coz, only one side is exposed to the flame and the other side is turned away. The lighter side is the one u need to look at.
This part plug color can only happen on this twin electrode apache plug. Single electrode plugs will have a unicorn color across.
Joel
btw..remember the question i asked you....regarding the 2 tubes that come from the air box apart from the main one. So one goes/exits from the crankcase (?) and i beleive its called a breather pipe...helps in ventilation?
and the other one goes to 'intake resonator' ..i have seen something similar in HH splendor and also a T'bird. Whats this for? whats does that particular component consist of? and how does it help? most indian bikes dont have it right?R.I.P kriss.

That means road taxes there are more than BangaloreOriginally posted by Saty View Post[b]Hey guys I wanted to buy a new bike so checked the TVS showroom the RTR eFi is priced 76000rs here but I wanted to know that the bike comes with an option of rear disc or not? as I read in one of BIke india issue dat it comes with an option
..
FI does not come with the options AFAIK .. but there are non-FI models which come with or without a read disk. Hope it answered your query.

To even comment, have u even used this tyre?Originally posted by chauhan_saurabh View PostIt may not be true .. tracks are different from the slippery roads you can encounter in the normal life. I've been using the Zapper C on my RTR since 6 months and have covered nearly 15k kms on street roads. Ridden it hard in rain as well. Its better than the stock and a lot of other rubbers. Track, its really good.
Going by your logic, the R15 tyres should not even grip the street roads. the rear tyre hardly has any texture at all.
Remember, all these tyres are first tested on the track before anywhere else.
Aqua planing of the tyres is based on the thread pattern.
I'm just talking about my experience with the Zapper C. I'm not holding you at gun point to buy one
. Its left to you to go for it or not. Dont hold me on this.
Also FYI we are talking about street tyres which run on regular tarmac. For off roading you look at other options.sigpic

Joel, needed clarity.
Are you are saying that the R15 tyre is the best option even though its 'only' 80/90 as opposed to the 90/90 stock size (i'm not comparing to the tvs tyre, just the recommended size) and for the rear the 3.00x18 zapper c is a better option than a 100/90-18 which is closer to the stock 100/80-18 size? why not use a 100/90-18 zapper a/b/c/x/y/z or the dunlop geocruiser ?
i have used the dunlop on my rd and it was awesome ... very confidence inspiring.
the stock tyre on my fi is very scary, doesnt let me lean half as much as i normally would. the front seemed ok when new, now it seems to be overwhelmed by the disc.Last edited by julianpaul; 12-18-2008, 11:38 PM.
