  • My baby is in for service at the dealership today. Ive hit almost 10k and its coming up on 2 years of ownership.

Some niggling problems: The turn signals have a mind of their own, i.e they will pick what time they want to turn on or not lol . Also the gear shift has become a bit clunky and ive been getting a lot of false neutrals lately and the SA was checking out my front wheel..seems to be a bit tight on the freewheel spin. In addition, the 180's black steering plate seems to never be in stock at any dealership in town..ive requested them to replace my worn out plastic plate with the 180's if its in stock. I just changed the oil couple of weeks back to Motul synthetic..thought i'd see if the French know something the Italians dont (AGIP) and so far so good . Bike is a bit hot during running these days but thats because of the damned heat and not much wind outside; i'll go easy on the Oil for that one

    • Hi Guys,
Recently i am facing lot of issues in my rtr-Fi .
First thing is my gear box has become very harsh .I cannot change from 2nd or 1st to neutral while the engine is running its very harsh previously it used to be smooth.
Secondly, the engine is also very harsh once i cross the 4K mark rpm the engine feels like its of a used second hand bike . My bike was brought on april 09 not even completed a year and i have done 5000 kms.

Thrid, I never tested the mileage but now i am getting very low mileage around 35.

Can any experts here suggest any solutions .

I stay in K.R.Puram,Bangalore and the service center mechanic could not solve this and finally he told me to take to to either one of the showrooms megdhoot in ulsoor or tristar in inner ring road.which one is the best?

No. Its neither from fz nor from r15. Its rtr's stock. I just removed the rubber cover by removing 2 bolts at bottom of each footpeg.

                  Thanks Satyen,
The engine oil was changed in my recent service just 7 days ago but i felt the harshness in the engine after the service to be more. I don't know what engine oil they use. After reading a large number of posts in this thread i found that the popular engine oils are castrol POWER ONE RACING,castrol power1,Veedol Super Swift .. Also i am new to the knowledge of engine oils .
Also what is 20W40,10W40 stand for and Which is the best engine oil for ma rtr-fi?
                  Thanks in advance.

You need to change clutch plates for sure. Mine was screwed because of some shitty oil svc filled in. Get the injector and ECU checked. Your RTR have silver injector or black injector?

Ah thats a neat mod, then I wonder why the vibes as the connectors still remain the same the FZ one is super cheap 28 odd rupees

Thats all BS, you can go to any SVC you want... remember the free coupon is from TVS and not the dealer!

Clutch plates @ 5k!!! Possible if they messed up with the oil!
PS: A lot (and I repeat A LOT) of people stock duplicate Castrol, everything from the Power 1 to the Racing Full Synth... so beware... at best stay away from castrol!!

Never in the 32K - KMs of riding :P
Heck even my clutch plates are stock! (will be changing them soon)

What I forsee in next 5K KM is finally a new chain sprocket kit (it may last longer) and the clutch plates

Even mine is giving a feel that it's broken again. It'll be 2nd time it will be replaced.
There's no unusual usage, just normal procedure to start bike.
But yes, when we use Engine Kill switch, a Striking sound (TAKKK...) comes in some instances, which I was also concerned about when the first one was replaced. At that time, the TVS Engineer told me that it's a normal thing, and won't harm the one-way clutch again..... Don't know, then, what is the probable cause.
                                Yes....
