            Hey Guys,
I have a TVS Apache RTR 160 which I had bought in 2010 and traveled about 65 thousand kilometers. Now I have several issues with this bike. First, Now live in countryside and there is no well equipped and expert Service Center within 50 km radius. Mileage has been decreased to 30 kmpl, Top speed decreased to 115, Vibrates too much even at the speed 55 to 70, Getting extremely hot. Would you please help me to get out of this problem.

Hey guys I have completed 10000 kms on my RTR160.
So far no issues apart from vibrations between 4.5k rpm and 5.5k rpm. Looks like I don't have solution for this.

Apart from this, bike is really good

              Mileage update: 51-54 from day1
Everything in stock and no modifications done

Any pointers I should know for my last free service which is due in 500km? Or just follow manual?

Can owners of the FI version shed some light its reliability. Have you ever been stranded?. I am just curious as to how TVS's previous FI performed. I am waiting for the FI version of the RTR 200 and am doing all the research I can. Since its a Bosch's closed loop system on the 200, I am hoping it will be as reliable as the Japs.

                  • TVS Apache RTR 160 exhaust change

I own a TVS Apache RTR 160 2015 model. My silencer has rusted and has a hole in it near the engine exhaust outlet. I observed that Apache 200 has a similar exhaust pipe fixing points as Apache 160. I have to buy a new silencer. Is it possible to attach RTR 200 silencer to RTR 160?

I own a TVS Apache RTR 160 2015 model. Recently its silencer got damaged. I was thinking to replace it with RTR 200's silencer as both have same mounting points. Is it possible because I just love the look and sound of RTR 200's silencer.

Hey, even i was interested in this type of mod. But i don't think anyone has tried it yet. You could jus test fit n try (if you get a chance) as there is no harm in doing so.
And also please post here if it possible.

I have been using FI since 2009 now. The bike has been running very well all these years with no problems with respect to FI system. Have to take care of the Petrol quality though. You have to ensure that the petrol pump is a well managed one. Faced problems twice due to water and mud in petrol because of which I had to replace the fuel pump. Just this year I am facing problems due to wiring issues; facing regular fuse blow-outs. Service Centre guys are saying it is the old wiring that is causing the problems. With respect to reliability, I feel it depends on how rough is your handling. I am more of a smooth rider but I love to go above 100 whenever the road permits. I have read many complaints with respect to FI performance but thankfully I have never faced such issues. It would also depend on how proficient is your service centre. I had found a good one near my office which kept my bike in tip top condition. Most of the Service Centre guys are not adept in handling, tuning and maintaining the FI Setup and that is what is causing the problems for many owners here.

Thanks for the reply. With the current situation, I feel I might have to buy the carb version if I am going with the RTR, as launching the FI doesn't seem to be TVS's current interest with all their efforts going into launching the Akula. Hope they sort out their production issues asap as they are losing a lot RTR 200 customers just because the FI+ABS is yet to hit the market.

Had a puncture early Monday morning (23-Oct-17). The puncture repair shop recommended me to replace my rear Tyre due to multiple puncture patches and wear-out. Was using Zapper Q and had put them approximately 5 Years back in Oct-2012. Went thru my old post here and realized that I had used it for almost 50K (current odo is 76600)!!!!!

I again got the same tyre, Zapper Q, as I had no time to do any research. The shop had the same Zapper Q and asked him to put the same on, as I was familiar with the grip and the performance. I got it for 3K including the tube. I think I was charged more than the normal price, but had no option, as I had to get it repaired.

I was putting off the tyre change as wanted to get the new Apache 200 FI, but now it seems like a distant dream . Looks like the bike is never going to be launched.

                              • RPM hang in Apache RTR 160 once warmed up.

I got the dummy cap replaced in rocker cover on my apache RTR160 as a very small amount of oil was leaking from there. After that a new problem arised. The Idle rpm was never stable. Then I found out that the rubber hose connecting the SAI check valve and the intake manifold was not connected properly(vacuum leak). To be on the safe side, I replaced the hose. I replaced the intake rubber boots as well as it had lot of cracks on it. Then with some fuel screw adjustment (3.25 turns out on a completely warmed engine) I was able to get the idle stabilized.
Now the engine feels good till it is warming(~7 km drive).even during the warming phase the idle rpm slowly rises (from ~1400)and after some time it settles at 2000. So after complete warm up the idle is at 2000 rpm and rough. Happens whenever I try to change gear, or on a stop. But a small load applied to the engine would bring the rpm down to ~1400.

I checked for vacuum leaks by spraying wd40 near intake manifold and the SAI check hose. No vacuum leak identified. I am suspecting that a valve clearance issue could cause this symptom as the RPM hang happens only when the engine is hot.

Can someone advice me on this?
