  • Holy crap.
Just about half an hour ago, coming back from college, Pune had this kindaf sudden downpour..The RTRs tyres are soo f*n slippery in the wet! omg! Maybe my on the throttle/brakes hard all the time did slightly make em look that way but they are crap in the wet..downright scary..easily i could've been plastered on some rickshaw coming the wrong side today...

    Alternatives? Front and rear?

      welcome to the club....

well..the front tyres are good imo compared to the alternatives, but you might wanna check out if you can lay your hand 90/90 17 Zapper Q. For the rear i am using Dunlop Geo Cruiser on my Apache - best VFM tyre- Paid 1100 for it. 100/90 18 Awesome grip compared to the stock tyreand in all conditions - Dry, Gravel and Wet. I dont think even a Zapper couldgive you so much confidence in the wet or in loose gravel.

PS: I am comparing the grip of the Geo Cruiser to the new set of stock tyres on my FI

Just try using the rear brakes alone in rain and u'll get a proper intro with them

          @m1g

I fing the front tyre to be pretty good. But the rear is one of the shittiest tyre i've seen. But it performes well once the tyre is very warm

But why should one use only rear brakes? thats a wrong way to brake even in dry

Guys as a thumb rule whenver you go on wet surface from Dry no matter how good the tire is you will face problem. Similarly if your tyre is wet & you go on dry surface there will be a problem.

Wet tires on wet roads wont be as bad as dry tires on wet roads.

Alternatively do a burn out before going out on a wet surface

              • I guess I've become too aggressive on the brakes nowadays I thunk..Going by the what might just be the best feeling front disc in India..

The front is a bit better..Though TVS have a notorious for making tyres that go crazy in the wet..

quite true... the earlier 240mm brakes were never a cause of worry for the 90/90 TVS rubber,,,but these 270mm petals always make me nervous...the front gets quite skittish.... but brake feel is terrific...

i still havent got an absolute dry piece of tarmac here... its either wet out here or once it dries its got enough dry sand to unsettle any bike ...

is that the fuel pump or something else....

                      • Guy after the Lavasa run I heard some metal vibration sound from bike at resonance frequency. I earlier thought it must be from Heat shield on silencer but then found it tightly fitted. It seems like its coming from somewhere aorund belly pan,

Any idea what metal parts around that area could be causing this?

p.s. After this run the 0-60 counter shows 4.5 seconds

so how did it perform in the ghats compared to ur prev bike? This question is more appropriate in your comparo thread .

And to add to that more specifically, how was the difference in pulling power uphill?

                            • Well it was best amongst all 3 of my bikes, Pulling power was obviously better in ZMA but the RTR would be quicker than the ZMA on twisties due to its light weight & overall dynamics, not to forget the brakes which help a lot ZMA brakes were scary after RTR, yes I rode one during this ride as well as a p220 which was err umm not in the same league thanks to its stupid after market seat :|

OT: Praful I found it so difficult to read the odo in P220(this bike is from the 2n lot I believe) as the contrast was really poor & I couldn't make out if it was 39 or 30 or 80 :O at times even at sub 100 speeds I would see all 3 digits. has this been rectified in later ones?

                              • True true, the feel/absolute rush of torque is not as evident on the RTR than the ZMA/220. But at the end of the day the RTR is faster!
OT1: On the Chennai track i clock faster times on the RTR than the 220!!!

OT2: Thats a new one, are you referring to Pavan's 220? The time when guys went to some place(lavasa was it?) for a drag with ur bike! Its pretty clear in all the 220's that I've ridden till date, day and night both! Have a look at this vid, cud'nt find anything better , is this clear enuf??
