    • Hey guys completed 5000 Kms on my RTR n also did 3rd service of my First bike .

      Posting my experience with my Apache .

      How i decided on RTR - All i ever dreamt till now was to own a Karizma R yellow but knew its too expensive to buy n mileage is very less. after passing 12th got admission in a college 25 kms away . need for vehicle came .i prayed day n night that dad atleast buys a 1500 cc bike .
      at that time i had Hunk ,CBZ ,Pulsar 150 , apache in mind . pulsars were too common , and between Cbz and RTR i found its lcd speedo and rear lights quite attractive . then one day i discovered RTR refrsesh on orkut and loved its tank scoop and that 0-60 feature .it sealed the deal for me .next week me and my dad went to Tvs and i simply loved the Yellow and Red version . Dealer told me that a Fi Rtr would come in 25 days and my dad wanted to buy that one .But i wanted bike quickly to atleast learn to ride properly and after 1 week came again and bought the bike by cash and got it in 20 minutes .maybe dad was right .........

      First experiences -
      i knew how to ride a bike a bit but dad adviced not to practice riding until my cousin assists me . Couldnt resist and next morning after dad went to work took out the bike from house .Felt very heavy and i wondered how a bullet might feel reversing in roads.first gear and off i was.........
      Bike felt very fast after riding a star city .

      Till now -

      Gears -Used to get false neutrals earlier but now dont get them and i never go in neutral while shifting from 1st to second .

      Engine - Vibes are there from 60-70 but after that bike becomes smooth.

      Lights - Rode 1 and a half hour at night once and the lights are just superb even in no streetlit places.

      Acceleration - Excellent power and acceleration to win traffic GP's . Even defeated a bullet in one curvy and fast road once. Even pulsar 180 i found no match for my RTR .Top speed touched is 116 but felt it could go till 125 atleast .[will test again in few weeks when weather warms up]

      Handling - handles great and leans even at 95+ speeds .

      Braking - is very good and front brake works like a charm .

      Mileage - used to get 50 till 1800 kms but now get around 45 due to little faster driving .my flame to get more mileage from bike has extinguished .......

      Bad Points - No place under seat or consolde to keep something like cloth or notebook ,Rear tyre not at all good and skids under wet roads and loose gravel , engine not smooth like R 15 or Zma

      Never had any accident till now and i drive very sanely as i know how delhi traffic DTC buses and call centre cabs are.Just yesterday i witnessed one biker going down due to Call centre cab and due to him falling another bullet rider too fell .old man did no fault to deserve those skinned knees and elbows. thank god he had helmet .helped him n bike get up and gave my first aid kit from bike to him.

      My Bike -

          @apar

          Could u also post a pic of the front tyre from a distance so as to see how thin it looks from the TVS tyre.
          The tyre does'nt seem to have the V shape in the R15. May be becoz of the alloy. Are u using a tube?

          Damn bro.....hid for just 1.5k?? here buggers quote 3.5k and how good is the 55w halogen compared to stock?

          @sprockets

          yummy.......i was thinking to do sprocketing a long time ago....but backed off wonder from where i could source it from.....now i know where to get it!

          • @Satish: No, it does not look small like on the R15. Yes, it is because of wider alloys on the RTR. Yes, am using a tube. A 55W is definitely better man. Look at the pics and u will understand for urself. Too bad I do not have a bike with 35W headlamp in my home for comparison.

            • Hi All,
              I am getting my bike from Service Today (Hopefully, If I can leave office a bit early today). From Zen. Work is been done by Rajesh. I have given him two spotlights to fix to get rid of the illumination problem.

              Additionally I am fitting NGK iridium. Lubrication part is taken care by Motul.

              @Joel, Great to see you in this thread. I have gone through your threads on Fierro 200cc. Awesome work.

                satish the r15 tyre does look quite small...aparajith swears by the grip, but the front mudguard looks quite big for the tyre. almost makes it look undertyred to a layman

                  • i got Fi's first service done yesterday...
                    -false neutrals seems to have been minimised..
                    - they have reduced the idle rpm to 1300....is that fine??

                    i had a cold start today morning...engine juz died after i started it.....twice...gave out a metallic clunk noise.....i thought cold start wasnt supposed to happen in the Fi !!!

                    • 1300rpm for idling is somewhat low for any engine.That could be blamed for the starting problem!!

                      • On Sunday morning the replaced and new fuel pump of the RTR Fi started to leak again. Sai saw it. Rode it back home with my heart in my mouth. Called up Ramkay yesterday. Since this was a serious and repeated issue, they sent 2 mechs to my home. The guys checked it and could not solve the issue. So they finally took it to the SC and said they would solve it by today or morrow and call me. They want to have it under observatuion for atleast one day it seems! Lets see what the outcome is...

                        @Sai: Compared to a 90/90 it might look smaller due to the lower profile. But it looks much better than the R15's puny look. And wait till this fuel issue is sorted out. Take it on a long ride and u will immediately feel the difference!

                              rather than the fi, i would say the rtr has quite a few niggles. like false neutrals etc.

                              Apars case was a one off and i think it is just his bad luck. my fuel system seems to be robust, no leaks whatsoever.

                              i am taking the bike today for service dude. a service manger form TVS did call me take down the list of problems. will keep you guys posted

                              @apar

                              i said it looks thin especially when you considering how the stock tyre fills the front mudguard visually. and yeah like we all know, the size and grip are never matched.. let me know when you solve your issue. Also, why dont you call up TVS motors, Mandaveli?

                                In that case upload it to Rapidshare/Megaupload with password option so not everyone can download it. Now PM the password and links to people requesting it. Am sure that can prevent privacy. If ur more concerned make it a password protected ZIP file.

                                This could be a manufacturing defect on the tank man. But I must say the SC guys were damn prompt. they did all that is possible. They Checked the old fuel pump, replaced it on warranty and stuff. I even asked all the mechs personally and the Service manager itself, no such problems till now on any Fi. Cant help these things yaar. Now lets see how things are proceeding!!

                                I still feel that our lives and TVS's lives would have been much easier if they had given much more attention to detail on such a brilliant bike projected as their flagship model! But I guess TVS feels that the XL Super and Scooty are their flagship models

                                Yeah I will. Is there a TVS motors at Mandaveli? Whose is it? Moreover Mandaveli is much far from my place than Adyar. Lets see!
