Guys is it advisable to go for water wash in local service stations...im bit skeptical abt this cox...when delivered Showromm guys adviced not to go for local water wash as they may splash water in to the electronic systems & it may spoil the system inside resulting in poor performance....help guys..mere wiping doesnt help to keep the babe shining ....

The day I pickup one ten rupee note would be the end of me getting two one rupee coins!

People used to offer him one ten rupee note and two one rupee coins... thinking he's a fool as he always used to pickup the two coins over one note.

                    • Hey guys Ashwin back again.

As some of you might know I sold my Apache a few weeks ago to get a Bullet, only to buy her back for 5,000 more than what I got for her. There is an emotional aspect which I am not ready to let go of, and so I am back on the Apache and using her until I leave for the States (my trip has been postponed to June).

Well, predictably, the ass who bought her tossed her here and there and somewhat screwed her up, so she's been given a complete once-over. Took her today to Castrol Bike Zone in Trimulgherry and got the following done:

Gold service with Castrol Power1 Racing Synthetic
Replaced the clutch cable, tightened clutch
Increased performance at the cost of mileage
                      'Changed swingarm bushings
                      Changed steering cone
                      Adjusted headlight level
                      Wheel throwing
                      Cleaned and lubed chain
Recharged battery, greased battery terminals with Vaseline
                      Changed timing chain seal

Some things I will get done once some money I am owed comes in on the 22nd:

                      Change disc brake pads
Change pilot and headlight bulbs to white halogens
                      Fit HP air filter
Change tyres to Zapper FS 90/90x17 front, Geocruiser 100/90x18 rear
Change closed chain cover to RTR's half-chain cover
                      Change chain-sprocket with RTR's

Any suggestions for the headlight bulbs? I've heard of 35W bulbs that give off 70W radiance. Can someone enlighten me?

Also, from CBZ to my house is approximately 2.5 kms. I rode at mostly 30-40 km/h with about 500 meters testing the pickup, hence at higher revs. I got home, did a small burnout on tarmac, and a slightly longer one on dirt. I parked the bike, and the engine was super hot, as though I'd been riding on the highway for an hour or so! What does this indicate? Need new clutch plates, etc?

                      • Any idea

Guys, There was a continuous hish kind of sound near the engine head from the very first day, I always notice it during idling, but in time of ride no sound as such apart from the tappet noise. I never bother about it as I always thought that the sound was due to the secondary air injection (SAI) module. But today for the first time I noticed that the sound goes off whenever I lean the bike slightly to the left, but leaning towards right and the sound came instantly. I check with my friends RTR Refresh, which also has SAI, but there is no sound like mine.
Do u guys have any idea about it? Is it due to loose timing chain? But there is no knocking or sound for loose Timing chain as such. What could be the problem?

Keep doing that and you soon will.
Was the engine hotter than normal? I mean after all that you would expect the engine to heat up.

                          • Of course, Ashu bhai. I do expect the engine to heat up, but yep, it was WAY hotter than normal. I never would get that heat from the engine unless its an hour of touring, with the engine beyond 4/5 kays for a good hour.

@AshwinBK: Look out for HIDs (High intensity Discharge). I cudnt find any 35W one in delhi. Came to know about a 50W. But that'll draw ~1.2A more current.
