how would the svc people know that you've had your tappets adjusted from outside?

It is more important that the bike run properly than to have a warranty on a crap bike.

if i were you i wouldn't worry about warranty too much. probably because most of the bike isn't covered anyway. i found out the wiring and the Rs. 1500 tail light arent covered. then i asked about the fi and they said that will be covered. i asked doesnt the ecu/ems come under electrical wiring and they were silent.

          unless you're satish

              • Dudes, once again - don't go by what is told orally. Just check the printed warranty terms & conditions.

Moisture/Dust might have got in there during the umpteen number of times u replaced the pilot lamp bulbs

Hope u didnt get those also in warranty

most experieced mech's adjust the tappets by feel and the funning of the engine tells them if it was done acceptably. but it's always better to set it with a feeler gauge. i think it's 0.08mm for intake and 0.1 for exhaust. check the correct clearance values as stated by the company first. and tappet clearancehas to be set on a dead cold engine. best way is to leave the bike at the mech's the night before and take the key with you; they might start it in the morning.

i had posted earlier with an excerpt from the warranty section of the manual: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/198856-post2293.html It explicitly states electrical wiring is not covered. but from a few conversations i had with various service centre managers, it appears warranty can be interpreted differently as per their convenience. and even technically the warranty as printed in the manual can be challenged by either party. for eg. an led tailight isn't a bulb. but then it is an electrical item and it is made of plastic, both of which would not be covered even if the bulb clause is not taken into consideration.

my point with this rant is that i specifically bought a showroom new bike because i wanted warranty cover and service. both of which i'm not getting even for minor issues. i shudder to think what would happen if my bike had all those choking and missing and backfiring issues. i'm 100% sure that all three svc centres nearest to my location would not propery resolve them.

                        we're not all Satishs ...

my local mech is a state racer, and he's master of tuning bikes and got certificate from TVS, so m least worried when he opens up my engine....
still he'll be keeping my tappets on slight loose setting.....

                          • what is the use of this bracket on RTR/RTR Fi?

Is any one noticed this bracket below rear left foor-peg? I did a lot of Research but could not find the use of this bracket in image below.
There's lot to it other than saddle....
