      • Same problem with my bike, mech said the front shocks get stiff so he removes them and loosens the spring inside.

          HOW??
Try using fresh shok oil from Motul or TVS? there is no option to loosens the spring inside. the mech is going to make you fool.

If the springs are damaged/short they need to be replaced. Whereas, the shocker itself has a setting in it.

Yes, I know, you can only go for fresh spring which gives you defult/stock settings? But there is no such option to play with the settings, i mean soften or harden for the front. We dont have USD in our RTR where we can play with the settings.

                no,,,,,,,,,
the springs inside the shocks can be stretch and while doin so what these guys do is they weld an inch of a rod inside the shock so the ride hight is increased and so is the tension (they simply stretch the springs and increase the oil quantity),by doin so they also increase the travel of the shock according to the users liking by welding the desired choice rod....

but it's not recommended as it'll adversly affect the dynamics and the weight distribution of the bike..........

Yes @snehil.I too feels the sound comes as if coming from Front Dome. This Clearly indicates the problem with Cone Set.I am Quiet Happy with the Way Front Shocks Works absorbing Every Ditch.Just that Cone Set is Defective or after reading so many complaints as well as New Bikes Have this Cone Set Issue ,I doubt if it is a serious R&D Fault of TVS.From the day First I got Bike Delivery,I complained about Cone Set Noise.Consider sending a group email to TVS in a common format regarding this issue. I am all for it.

PS:Even heavy Enfield Bullet don't made this kind of "Thud"!.

                  • How about a simple test? Shock absorber sound generally will come only when the bike encounters some surface irregularities on the road.

To verify that it is the cone sound, push the bike a little such that its speed is about walking speed and brake suddenly and strongly using the front brake. If it is cone problem, the sound will come even before the front suspension bottoms out fully and is still in the process of diving forward.

I can not say from here, but the 2 noises sound slightly different. The cone noise is slightly like a "click" and the suspension noise will sound slightly hollow, like a "thud". On road its difficult to discern, as other parts like the fairing too vibrates when the thud comes.

And both noises can come up, even on slight potholes.

                          • My bike also has this "thud".

I want to improve the performance of my Apache changing the Bobbin, choke cables, carburetor, exhaust and the air filter.
Already I use Tyres Michelin Pilot Sporty, Castrol Power 1 Racing and ultrasonic spark plug.

I am interested in yours recommendations. The Racing Kit, is available now for India?

                            Thanks a lot!!

                              • Battery breather pipe routing....(RTR 160,FI,180)

The pipe which runs from the left side of the battery and is transparent, runs till the center stand, should not be bend or below the strapping pad which is used to hold battery in place...otherwise it'll cause battery to spit acid that'll cause havoc to paint, plastic and battery too...

This bend pipe also causes acid deposition at the terminals of the self starter motor which are clearly visible from the kick stater side...

Whenever ur bike gets back from the service open the side cover (lockable one) and make sure that it's running free and it's outlet is also not blocked, cuz the three times i gave my bike for service the dumbhead strapped the pipe in the strap.
