  • Anybody experiencing super grunty sound while the bike misses between 1500-2500 when the engine is hot?

It sounds tooooo good, but the missing is annoying.

You have to go to the SC for that, cuz to remove it you have to open the side panels, the whole rear, both side panels along with the tail lamp, then that thing is bolted to the areas for which we cannot find screw drivers at home.

It took the SC guy whole of 45 mins to change my fender and bolt a new one when i changed it to the one from 180.

it cost me around 375 something plus 50 bucks as labour, you can remove the fender and swap it with the 180's or if you want something like in the pic then try the mount from the new 135 pulsar, it will easily mount the indicators too.

                      • I got the ZMR rear tire fixed in tubeless format for my RTR today. No major difference in grip levels or anything. Cost me 1850 including tubeless valve. My bro got it fixed. Yet to take a test ride even!

A shop named MAS tires : http://chennai.justdial.com/mas-tyre...fqivejPjaq.htm. Supposedly the largest and No. 1 retailer for MRF at Chennai. Even I got the R15 tires from that guy. Got this info from MRF godown and got it from them.

                            • I'm bach!

                              Hey guys,

After a really long time without proper net access (dialup) i'm back on broadband. MTNL zindabad!

I used to chk up on the forum now and then, though never tried signing in and posting, my net used to freq disconnect.

Anyways, let the good times roll!

The bike is fine, doing absolutely perfect. My cuz is using it these days, sold his car, till he buys another. He reported that one hot day, on a long ride to powai, there was a bit of missing and the engine shut off. nothing after that. then i remembered one hot day last october, again coincidentally on a ride to powai, the bike had shut off and refused to start. Gave her 2 mins to cool down and she was fine again. These days i can live with her niggles more easily, she's a year and a half old now. Was frustrating when she was new though. Heck, this is the best 1 1/2 year old bike i've ever owned! My rear pads and disc have worn substantially, pads are almost completely without grooves, disc has lost a couple mm i think. which is surprising because i almost never use the rear. the front which i use extensively, with late and hard braking, has almost half the pads remaining and the disc hasn't noticeably worn. This is after 15k kms. Guess there's something wrong with the rear assy. I'm wondering whether to just leave the rear without changing the pads. But what if i need it in an emergency. Tyres are on their last legs, will def have to change before the rains. In this hot weather they're fine i guess.

Renny, Satish and Swagath, all doing good i see! (sorry if i missed some of the old timers names!)

Apar, the zapper-y has had a long history of being a crap tyre back from the CBZ days. WTF would you go and get that one then? Maybe the new one's compound is a little better, but it still has no center groove. I'm sure even the Q would have been a better option. I'm personally thinking about changing to the 17" rear wheel too, but more than the gearing which can be fixed quite easily, i'm worried about the vehicle dynamics. How did TVS compensate when moving to 17" on the 180". Ok, there's a longer swingarm, what else? Are the shocks longer?

                              More later ...

                              • Hey dude... Long time yaar!! I was just thinking today morning about u... Wud u believe it?? Anyways...

                                1. The rear assembly issue that u say is new. I had to change my pads just after the Leh trip due to all the muck and rear disc usage I had to do to slow down during off-roading and stuff. Check if the disc is rubbing the pads continuously. After that the rear pads have been good for the past 6K kms and the disc is good. No lines or anything. I just changed my front pads.

                                2. Well, all of u guys say that the Zapper Y is bad but I never had an issue till now. Find it good enough. Maybe cos am used to the more near-slick R15 rear! The earlier tire on the RTR was the same one in tubed format and I got Leh'ied with it. The Zapper Q maybe good, but then 18-inch tubeless options are poor. I tried to get the Ceat secura but it was out of stock(Funny!) and so I got this. I considered the Zapper-Q with the tuff-up tube as last option. Also MRF and HH have said that this compound is softer now. Lets see....

                                3. Try the RTR 180 and see if u feel a difference in seating or dynamics. If u find it comfortable go ahead for a 17-inch rim.
