I have an Apache RTR FI which is 2 years old and have done 11500 kms.
I used to get around 48 km/pl and my top speed was 105 at around 9000+rpm.
But recently my bike is giving only 36-40km/pl and i cannot rev more than 8000 rpm and the max speed achievable is only 80 km/hr.

Also during the peak revs with full throttle i.e here at 8000 rpm the engine tends to jerk is this due to the FI problem ? Please help me.

I love my bike very much but recently in the past few months i feel like this is not my bike . Please suggest me any good service center in bangalore for my bike .
    Thanks in advance.
The filter must be badly clogged. And, check the tuning. Plus, as suggested by "Shusheel" Kumar, check the engine oil for its colour and specially for the level.

Service centre i cant suggest but get the full tune up done very properly.
This should include cam timing, timing chain tension, valve clearance, and CO setting. Replace the spark plug if you are still running the one which came with bike.

I maintained 5k rpm..so say around 65-70 km/hr....its not just about speed yaar...its about how often we change gears....in cities we only have time for that ...

            • Thanks Susheelkumar , Garry Menace and Nox2505 for your valuable inputs.
The good news is 80 percent of my problems have been solved by replacing the accelerator cable it was tight hence I could not rip it upto 9000+ rpm hence the low top end speed and the engine jerk . Now the bike feels smooth.

I paid around 150 rs for the cable and also changed my rear disk +disk pad costing 1200 bugs . as my current disk plate had become rough and due to this used to replace the paddings in short intervals. .

I will be doing a full service shortly which engine oil is best for the rtr I have heard veedol super swift is semi synthetic and value for money and its good .
Sure I will get the full tune up done properly and also check if the spark plug needs to be replaced. I also wanted to know if changing spark plugs to NGK apart from performance? Is it worth going in for a K&N filter as i heard its performance increase is negligible.

                  @ALL

Guys, I feel my bike is lacking power in the low range RPM, i.e., around 2-3.5K RPM which is much noticeable with pillion. I didn't feel it in initial 6-7 months but now I'm really feeling very low at power in that range. It maybe that I've noticed it after 6-7 months as it is my first bike and I didn't get to know about it initially but I want to clear this doubt. Is it normal as this range doesn't fall under powerband of the bike being a rev happy engine or there's some problem? I feel that the bike is not able to pull in the above mentioned RPM range

Btw, the carb tuning is done just around 3-4 days ago. Earlier I felt that it must be due to bad tuning coz I fiddled with it some 2 months ago. But after tuning, I don't feel so while riding single but it is much noticeable with pillion and seems like there is much decrease in power with pillion. (Yeah, I know that pillion decreases the power : weight ratio but I'm feeling as if its decreasing more than expected).

                  EDIT: I own a 180.

Most important Check your engine oil for level and color before you start...and also when you start from your destination ,to be back home.
Chain tightness and LUBRICATION,Tire pressure, tightness of all engine and frame bolts
The tool kit, puncture kit for tubeless tires(if you have one),First aid kit.
Fill Petrol only in a known GOOD bunk.
                    Your Helmet and Riding Gear.
Highway driving is different from city driving...limit your speed to 80Kmph,and give way to the heavy vehicles.
Slow down when you near any juctions or village on the highway.

                    • Guys, I own an Apache RTR 160 and its covered over 4650kms. Of late, I seem to be experiencing a lot of knocking whenever I am at a lower RPM (that is when I don't give throttle during turns etc.) of the first two gears. This really bugs me. What could be the problem?

I have seen many Xbhpians reporting on this ,and guess it may be due to the vibrations. You may change the Engine and Frame Nuts to the self lock type, which has a nylon washer crimped to the edge of the nut to keep it from unwinding due to vibes.

                          • Last few issues to be resolved before I go for my RTR

                            Hi Guys,

I did a test drive of RTR-160 HE, with pillion, the bike looks comfortable.
I am planning to go ahead with this. One last thing I am concerned about it is -

                            1. vibes issue that people mentioned about RTR
                            2. Skidding issue with its tvs tyres.

I went through ownership threads on xBHP. People have mentioned that vibes become so high at speends above 65 or so that it becomes difficult for pillion to rest his/her feet on foot pegs.
Is it really true? please throw some light on this.

hi sirf_atul...i own a hyperedge and I have crossed 1100km in one month...I haven't faced any vibrations at all till 80km/hr... I havent gone above that because I've only finished my first service....as per my knowledge the rpm rate to be maintained is :-
                              4k rpm till first service
5k rpm till second service and so on...
I have maintained on the above, though only in two occasions I have went between 6k-6.5k due the adrenalin rush ...both these occations I havent felt any vibrations...and also tvs has done a great job in HE by reducing their main menace i.e. vibrations....u can ask other hyperdge owners if u want...

well regarding tires, I'm not sure, because on dry conditions tires are ok, but the real test is under wet conditions which I haven't got a chance to..so i cant comment on that...but as AFAIK they kept on rectifying the defects each time they came up with new models and defintely HE tires might be the latest under their garage and by now they must have given the same tire compounds to all the models...all i can say is other bikes use MRF which is certainly the best in market and currently tvs tires might not be that good..but one day they will be...
