life of oil depends on usage also . if you are a redline worshiper oil will go bad quickly . i think motul semi synth will easily last 3000+ kms . dont get too worried on it .

I guess nearly 5k. Not sure anyway. Please confirm with any local mechanic first and then check out in TVS service center.

        • I have been hearing some tappet noice (which is seen mostly in TVS Victor) from the silencer of my Apache HE. What maybe the reason for the same? I checked the oil level. It is a bit less, but still above the minimum level and its color is still good as new. I have crossed nearly 1700+ kms. My second service is from 2500km/march 3rd. SO still a few more days to go. Should I put oil? If yes which oil should I use (as only first service is finished)? Should I change the filter along with it?

          • ^^^ Tappet noise comes from engine and only the rider can hear it, the pillion will always hear the sweet note of RTR , so its something else , if you get sounds after shutting engine its normal tik tik sounds come from silencer part after riding a while , and which oil are you currently on TVS ? if so then change it, but ask SVC guys to not change oil @ 2500 service ask for them to check oil filter at next service its not an issue i think. And Oils your choice but Castrol power 1 will do the job , i havent used motul but here they motul is good

I'm using TVS TRU4 Premium oil. The normal tik tik sound after turning off engine is something i used to hear most of the time. But that is not an issue ..right?I wonder what is dipping inside the engine. is it oil or petrol?
The other sound which I was talking about is something like when we raise the accelerator in neutral, at certain levels it feels like the silencer is coughing. Is it because of oil issue?

Do I have to change the oil filter along when changing oil. I thought I could run till next service. But it seems like I need to change oil.

not because of oil may be misfire or try cleaning your carb.

yeah. motul is no longer selling the 10w40 grade in the semi synthetic range. if you really want one, you can get cans that are two years old here in Gopalpuram, Chennai.

i bought one recently and see a great difference. reaching 90s without strain is far easier compared with the power1 i had before.

                            • Handed over the keys to the new owner of my FI with a heavy heart an hour ago.

I really had some good moments on the machine, lovved it's revvy nature of hunting the "12", the way she used to scare shit outta me in leans, the countless hours i spent getting its tank cleaned, fuel filter replaced, re-routing the injection pipe etc.

She made me taste the crisp throttle response of FI, she massaged my whole body on highways, gave me the show of a shakey needle that used to shake in travel from 9 to 12 grands.

She'll be missed, specially that roarty exhaust note.

looking forward for a new babe in your stable

My RTR has been running a lot from feb 1st. Has done abt 1100 kms since 1st, and she's been returning a steady 48-51kmpl. Another 3300kms she needs a service. have to check the fork play, throttle and its misfiring a bit! the new chain kit seems to be hold good. looks like she'll last long!
