    • Guys, is it okay to put used engine oil / SAE 90 oil in silencer? I have seen some mechanics do it.... is it advisable? why they do it?

A1: There are no moving parts inside a silencer which would need lubrication, so, NO !!
        A2: NO !!
A3: They have gone out of their mind. I Suggest that you and your bike should stay AT LEAST 100 meters away from such *extra smart* mechanics.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Thanks for reply on short notice. They say that oil evaporates when silencer is hot and resists dirts from entering muffler and also keeps muffler cool. I didn't agree with them. Actually, it happened in our oversmart bajaj service center.

          • Yesterday i went to JC Road(bangalore) for buying Iridium NGK spark plugs(code:NGKITA15). The shopkeeper gave me NGK spark plugs with some other code and its mentioned 650 rs.
In website (http://www.planetdsg.com/ngk-iridium...page=5&sort=3a) its mentioned 550rs. So, I didnt buy as I feel its some other bikes plug.

Also I enquired about SpitFire Cable and he said its available in 350rs, 450 rs, 650rs.
I wonder which is the original one. I dont want any normal spark plug cable.
            Has anyone tried the same?
Btw I thought of going for these changes because nowadays i'm getting very less millege(say less than or equal to 40kmpl) even though with maintaining with 5k rpm.

They put oil so that the exhaust-note changes drastically and feels like that the bike has been tuned and blah -blah so that the customer feels happy and pays more to the mechanic.
Some even claim that it prevents rusting of the silencer

              • Guys, do you know why does stock RTR (carb) feels like "chocked" at 4-6k rpm?
it's quite annoying, realy realy annoying..

changing the pilot jet to #17.5 or move the needle clip to the 3rd somehow reduce this "chocked feels", but it'll gives a very poor acceleration, "uncrispy throttle", and a lot vibration (more than it used to be)

what do you mean by choked?? acceleration is really smooth through that range. How much kms did you run?

                  • Can anyone help me out with the front suspension ?i am currently facing somekind of problem with it. on idle if i do press it up and down its not much different just normal, but on road even a slight bump or patch or bad roads the bike send me sudden jerk with a loud thud(depends on speed the sound varies from light thud to high thud) . i asked the svc guys to check for it and he is saying the bike is good. what could be the problem.

history : did change coneset few thousands of kms before (~4000kms)

                    • RTR 160 HE engine over heating

                      Hi all,
Since the 5th free service, I can feel a good amount of heat in my right leg for city ride and also on highway ride. still 1000 kms to go for the next service, but is this overheating is serious problem to look after or i can wait for the next service ? also the 3M additive is added along with TVS TRUE 4T engine oil in 5th free service. any suggestions on these?

                      Thanks,
                      Vino

something like no fuel flowing, sometimes happens, sometimes not...often happens...asked Joel in the past, he says that's normal..
yesterday i remove the throttle switch (TPS), this chocked feel somehow reduced..

got this problem since brand new...now clocked about 32,000kms

i also had that problem..well better than yours...
just a slight *thud* when bottom up...happened when under hard braking...and all bolts are tights...

but when i replaced the fork oil, and refill it with 150ml (stock bike about 140-145ml /fork, don't remember), it never happened anymore 'till those oil got thinner again (about 2 weeks)...
the *thud* happened only when those forks are bottom up..

                            two questions
                            1. what is bottom up ?(i really dont know)
                            2. so you let it be like that or do you refill every two weeks ?(fork oil )

i contacted one local mechanic who lives in flat opposite side to mine and he test drove for quite a while and came and said that the front jumpers are gone. he said he cant tell how much it will cost as he needs to open the system and see what components need to be replaced.

                                1. bottom up is when your suspension move to it's fullest absorbing position...means, it can't move any further to absorb the shock it receive (sorry bad english)

                                2. i let it be, but after i refill it with those new front fork oil with 150ml, it rarely happen.. i mean rarely make a *thud* sounds

also, i refill it with some cheaps fork oil...planning to change it with a better oil, maybe it will a different story....maybe
