Currently ,I changed the valve guides to brass made one's custom made here.I am running slow for 500kms for the valve seating.completed 300+kms already.this was done for reducing tappet noise and valve chattering(oil scarcity in high speeds in valve's).

I have a doubt.many bulleteers recommends adding of 80ml 2 stroke engine oil to full tank of petrol in bullet?any idea?is it helpful?

also ,any option regarding upgradation of oil pumps in 350cc bullets?

any news about UCE engines?how will they compare with current avl and CI engines?

Here are some pics of my bull. for more , Flickr: prakashjk's Photostream

    • Engine oil options for RE TBTS

I ride an RE TBTS and it needs 15W50 engine oil. currently the stock I get from service station they say is a semi synth Mobil1 and the full oil change is 2.75 litres
not that I am complaining about it but I am looking at other options which can give a good balance of smoothness to the bike and is also economical

      • Well well well!

The road seems to admire Bulleteers like they are watching an Angel!!!
A bit exaggered, but surely the respect is up for Bullets, and their Riders!

My dad loves Bullets like anything, so comes the inheritance to me........

        I mostly toured on Bullet.....

Few confidences I have in/with Bullet
        • Undoubtably great riding experience
        • Great Torque in all speeds
        • Big bike like stability feel
        • Untiring Engine at constant stretching speeds also
        • Ability to adjust with rough terrains

Though there are many troubles also that comes only with Bullets, still the Bulleteers have a special class, so does the Bike.....

Posting a slight late recent tour memorablia, I did from a borrowed Bull!

          • triumphs and travails of goldie+K&N+upjetting

            Okie,

Here we go. I bought a Shakeel Goldie three weeks ago on a rainy Pune Saturday. I put it on immediately and the engine felt smoother and eager to rev, well relatively. I was already running a 125 main and a 20 pilot anticipating a need for upjetting.

The bull pulled well at the higher end but the low end response was zilch. I got pissed off cos my LB500 was a torque monster with the stock pipe.

Two days with the unfinished goldie, I took it off for chrome plating. Meanwhile, I switched back to the stock bazooka silencer and immediately felt the improved acceleration. Was disappointed with the goldie.

Started thinking about why this was happening. I did a few plug chops. The plugs were showing a rich pilot and a perfect needle. Now, the main jet was showing a half rich-half lean colouring on the porcelain(electrode) part of the plug. This was when I got to know that the base ring is the main indicator jetting. Checked the base ring. It showed a decent ring of soot. So jetting is on the richer side. So, no power loss due to jetting.

Then, I got the hot tube welded off from the bend pipe. Now, I could experience what lack of back pressure does to acceleration. The punch was there at the higher revs but my Bull felt flat at the lower revs on the stock pipes. Effect is the same as that of goldie. So, the goldie actually reduces backpressure, thereby acceleration. Now, my goldie had arrived back after chroming. I put it on and now the low end accleration wasn't all that bad. Don't ask me how as my guess is as good as yours. I concluded that a bend pipe-(cat con)+goldie=best bet.

Now, I wanted to fiddle around with the jetting a little. I started off with a 135 mains. Result: the engine almost cut off on me at 80 in third gear. So, went down to a 130. Same effect. So, jetting too lean/rich. The plug showed a lot of soot at WOT also. Conclusion: rich. I also had a minor electrical problem on my LB500: a faulty key switch. This problem was amplified at WOT when the vibes rise leading to frequent disruptions in current to the engine. This, actually was the cause of my bull choking at 80 in third, not the jetting.

So replaced the ignition key system and tried a flat out run. Now, there was no sputtering at WOT but the engine used to jerk- kind of on and off response at WOT. Indications of a possible lean/rich mixture again. Did a plug chop. Plug indicates a rich mixture.

Now, I didn't feel like downjetting. So, what was the next option? A free-er flowing filter. I spoke to the BIG MAN at Bangalore. He hadn't yet developed a filter-jet kit for the LB500. So,I zeroed in on a K&N pod filter. I plonked a R-1060 on and tried out the 130 jet. Worked like a charm but was just a little lean. Did a 100 indicated in third gear. Went up to 135 and now I am running a 140 main jet. Now, my bull is running a custom made perforated MSD shroud for the K&N filter so that thieves cut their hands badly before they flick my filter. Now, I'm running a bit rich but that is ok with me. I am doing decent indicated speeds with power all through the rev range. Overall, the goldie with the K&N plus upjetting does help dish out some decent power, especially mid range and above. The engine, for a bullet, revs more eagerly and feels better.

PS: Chinmay Dangre(9822212496) at Pune made me good quality jets. So, if you need bigger jets, you may contact him.

2.25 litres 20W40 recommended in the engine. Use two litres or 2.1 at the max. Any more causes lot of blowback/bogged performance.

420 EP90 grade gear oil in the gear box.

Around half liter 20W40 grade engine oil in the clutch.

Preferred lube after 3000Ks or initial run-in: Veedol SuperSwift semi synthetic 10W40.

              Cheers,

              Jay

finally on friday the bike completely shut of while i was ridin kept kickin it for mebbe 50+kicks wit no result.. finally called up my genius of a mech.. he came and rectifed the problem wit points and bike roared to life in just 1 kick..

I went to one of the Bullet mechanic and he says he dont know to do twin Spark.

I only go to mechanic for major repairs and I take care of minor things.

                        • I am proud owner of Royal Enfield Thunder Bird Twin Spark.

I got this vehicle about 8 months back and I completed 18000 Km on it.
I am impressed with the performance and I have not made any modifications except I changed the Exhaust to a short one for thump.
I also changed the normal Head Lamp to HID kit and it is very useful as I do night rides.

I have not stopped the engine for more than 500 Km on my ride from Kodaikanal to bangalore.... I did not stop my bike in this trip.... Loved it and I dont have any problem till day on my bike.
It is most trusted bike on any terrain..... I have also done Off road on it.
top Speed - 130 Km/H - - On the way back from Jog to Bangalore
                          Would recommend it...

I bought it in Banaglore JC Road and it is a China make and I am not sure with the brand as I disposed the packing box that came with it and coming to price it is 1800 /-...

It has both white HID light and the normal light which can be adjusted for low beam and high beam... It will save you when you are riding in City.

It is good and there is no problem sine 5 months - from the time I bought it...

I need to change the reflector as it is melting... changed from plastic reflector to metallic reflector ....
