I would say that 80 kmph is the ideal speed for the Indian 350, be it the cast iron or AVL aluminum version. Can't say about the new UCE construction ones, though.

During your run-in period, try not to do high speeds for long periods of time. 10-15 second bursts are ok, but generally try and keep it at 50 or so.

I agree with everything you say about REs man. But, about vibrations setting in at 80 or so on the AVLs, I am afraid I will have to disagree. A properly set up AVL500/TBTS can do ton up speeds with the engine still remaining smooth and the vibes non intrusive. My LB500's sweet spot is around 110 on the speedo which is about 100-102 on the gun. For the record, I am running Veedol Superswift 10W40 semi synthetic.

    Cheers,

    Jay

Can knee pads be fitted on an Electra's tank?
I am going in for a 30L tank on my LB500.

The grill is for placing a light bag onto the tank. A bigger tank will make your bull heavier but doesn't really affect handling adversely under normal riding.

Just a Question Isn't the correct oil grade for Bull is W50 Grade.. R u not facing any problem with W40 grade ??

I know it is a SS oil but still

Just checking because their are lot of ppl with 180,200 & 220 Pulsars who are not going for Sprinta, Agip & CP1R which is FS just because their Recommended grade is more than W40

The recommended grade for AVLs is 20W40. All other bulls including the UCE350/500 need 20W50.

              • Hello

This is my first post on this board, been lurking & soaking in info for a while on this board.

I'll soon (hoping to be in couple of weeks) be owner of a classic 500 and i am looking for a few info. I dont have any driving experience on a bullet before but i do have lot of riding experience on it, my dad had it for almost 25 years! hence the love. Although i do have plenty of experience driving motorcycles above 500cc.

What will you suggest for a new bullet rider? Things like the initial burn in procedure, oil change intervals, what type & weight of oil needs to go in, etc. Does the owners manual contain all this information or am i on my own here? I downloaded Pete Sindal's manual sometime back (gotta search for it again), will that be helpful for the classic 500 as well?

I promise to post the picture as soon as i receive the motorcycle!

                  Thanks Jay.
For time being i postponed the plans of new battery. Anyhow can u tell me the exact model and dimensions of the battery and the cost. In TBhp i read it to be around 1.5k. Sadly that battery wasnt available in any of the battery shops that i visited.

Not to worry, everything is listed in the owners manual. You dont have to worry much.the classic 500 is a new generation motorcycle which has an integrated gearbox and aluminium engine unlike the older bullets which had a cast iron head and a separate gearbox.thogh the valvetrain is still pushrod activated, the classic is very much improved in technology hence would need lesser maintainance. About running it in,U can do it like what the manual prescribes, the CI ones need to be run in with much more care thogh, but, for the classic, since it is a new model and a very good one at that, i suggest that u stick to the manual and the mechanic's prescription at the showroom. congrats for booking the new classic.wish you a very long and affectionate association with it!

PS:are you going in for the upswept silencer or the normal one?

Thanks for replying! I am very excited and very much look forward for the day i am going to get the call from the showroom. I booked the bike on November 4th & paid an advance, at that time they told me i will get a call within 2 weeks. I never gave them that chance, i kept calling them after the 1st week on a regular basis!

Now there is revised date, i was asked to pay the full amount sometime this week & they'll deliver it on the 1st of December. Not sure how true that is, time will tell.

As for any modifications, i am planning to ride the bike stock for sometime until i get used to all aspects of the motorcycle before i make any change to it. Maroon color is the one I've booked.

                          • Hi people, got delivery of my STD 350 yesterday, and the love affair has started - administered her 12 loving kicks today morning
so, I am thinking of NOT going to the authorised service center at all, the one here in hyderabad sucks big time - and hang the warranty. Thinking of going to a competent mechanic rather. Is it a good idea, or is there some adjustment/ setting etc. that only the SVC mechs can do?

Congrats on your purchase and wish you a super long association with your bullet.I would suggest you to check out with the svcs as long as it is in warranty.but also have an experienced mech by your side so that you can take your bike to him for valuable inputs but never mention about your private mechanic to the guys at svcs coz it will void the warranty.
                                happy thumping!
