  • Two part handlebars vs one part handlebars in pulsar

Can anyone tell the difference between a two part handlebar used in current pulsar series (specially in pulsar 180/220) and the one part handlebar previously used in pulsar 150/180/200(old).
I have one 2008 model pulsar 200(old) which is having one part handlebar which i am planning to replace as it is slightly bent after one minor accident.
I have noticed that 1 part handlebar is very easily bent after a single minor bikedrop.

Some people are telling that two part handlebars of pulsar series are better than the older one part handlebars and are not bent easily like the older ones.
    Is is correct?
Can anyone suggest me the difference and is it worthy to go for expensive 2 part handlebar or it is just for better looks?

If possible please provide the complete comparison between the two and suggest which one to go for.😃

People are shifting towards single handle bar due to its cushioning effect. For long rides & handling, bar handles are best.

A one piece handle-bar is better by all means compared to the clip-on's.

Mines a P220 and I had to spend some time and moolah to convert mine to comfortable bar handle setup. Since yours come with a bar handle from factory I would suggest you keep it stock or go for a taller bar as per your taste.

Thats phenomenal. During the first 90k, how many times the head needed to be decarbonized? Were the valve seals replaced? TIA!

I never did any decarbonisation. Valve seals were changed at 90k itself. If you use good quality fuel and have good plugs, carbon build up would be less in a lean engine like 220.

I asked because Bajaj and TVS recommend decarb every 25-30k in the manual while Japs keep quiet about it. Bajaj additionally mentions valve seals replacement every 30k IIRC.

Yes. Actually jap engines gather a lot of carbon due to running richer than most Bajaj engines. I wish I could have taken a picture when I opened the head for inspection a few days ago. The head, piston top, everything is clean and dray as a bone. Unless your bike is drinking oil, there is no need to change the seals.

                        Hi Folks,

Just i bought second hand p200 2009 model, facing so difficulty in gear shifting even i changed new clutch cable from BSS

                        Observations found

                        - Not able to neutral,
                        - Due to hard gear shift my toe finger is paining, and feel like am riding discover bike than p200 bike
                        - more pulling when bike start cruising around 55km above itself
                        - some jerks are coming in between
                        - while downshift bit hard in gears
                        - annoying sound like water motor on 55km above speed?

please advise its a time to change clutch assembly since current odo 26k is ? if so pulsar 220 clutch assembly will fit??since p200 spares are demand in market and can i see the difference in pickup if i change to p220 clutch assembly set

i can see more pulsar variants starts from UG3 to UG5(current) , so which clutch assemble set should fit well for p200

                        awaiting for your early response

                        regards
                        Nanda

Hi! Wonder if anyone still have this machine with them. Mine is working just fine as the first day (a bit of fuel leak sometimes from carb, piston rings changed but no major modifications). Just wanted have some clarity on spares.

                          1. Speedometer is not working since ages. The original one got shorted and it killed battery completely taking whole wiring with it. Replaces wiring, battery and new aftermarket speedometer but it again shorted and emptied battery (as told my mechanic). Since then, I've removed plugs of speedo and its working fine. Any possible resolution?

                          2. Headlamps are way too dim for night driving. Any possible solution?

Will ask more once these are answered

1st gen pulsars with AC headlights have this typical speedometer burning issue . If u want a complete peace of mind go for p220 wiring kit with cdi.
wiring change will sort out the dim headlight issue too

Thanks a ton for your reply.

I can work with dead speedometer. Can check fuel like a bullet as well (peeping in the tank with an estimate). As for headlamp, read somewhere 55/60w is much brighter but 150cc pulsar needed rewiring upto 200cc avenger for additional voltage. Would my pulsar 200cc would also need rewiring?!
