  • Re: Bajaj Pulsar 200 Dtsi Sudden Jerk.......

After a long time I got to go on a nice ride with a friend on his 200NS.
The destination was Munsyari, Uttarakhand and the route was Jaipur-Delhi-Haldwani-Almora-Chaukori-Munsyari-Bageshwar-Ranikhet-Kashipur-Delhi-Jaipur for a total of ~1700 km.

The bike performed good and consumed a total of 31 litres (with some still left) for 1700+ km resulting in an average of 54.83 km/litre with about half of it being hill riding
I noticed a busted fork seal at Almora and managed to find an original spare part replacement. The widespread availability of Bajaj (and Hero Honda) spares is a boon.

    • Two problems

      Dear fellow users,

      Greetings from kathmandu.

Now please suggest me what might be the problem with my bike. It is a old model pulsar dtsi 200cc and It is having following issues.

      A. When i use front brake i.e. disk brake bike gets imbalanced. It tends to move right or left, thus giving the chance of crashing the bike.
      - have changed the wheel bearings for the both wheels but not solved.
      - problen is with front brake only

      B. When i try to accelerate there is no rssponse from engine after 4k rev. I mean to say you squeeze the accelerator and expect bike to jump forward but No!! mine would just take its own time and accelerate slowly at its own gradual (slolw) pace.

Please suggest me what could be the problem then i could suggest my good for nothing mechanic because he has already sucked few grands out of my pocket for no results giving spare parts change.

And yes i have survived earthquake. Thanks to indian people at common people level for your emotional support during this tragedy. And no thanks to indian media hehe.

First check the cone set of your bike. Then you can get both forks rebuilt: replace the seals and replace the oil, taking care that each fork should have exactly same amount of fork oil.

Could be a carb issue (might be the electricals but I don't know). First, please clean carburettor, check that the main jet is not blocked.
And while doing so, get the tank cleaned once as well.

            hey Mr. Tanay,

Actually i already did exactly you have suggested. That cone set and forks stuff done by mechanic at bajaj service but he wont clean my carb because after earthquake there is this huge line where he will get much more than carb cleaning labour charge for the same amount of time. So i took the initiative and cleaned the thing myself now bike is back to normal.

            Thanks man.

                hey rohit,
Actually it was carb problem.. i dessembled it cleaned it and reassemble-fit it then bike was back on jumping.
But again the problem occured after a week. i again took the carb off, opened it and guess adjusted the slide diaphragm. then again it came back to normal.
BUt agian..phewwww!!! after three days same problem. Then i took a rod and knocked the carb slightly at its head few times.. then back to normal.
                MY CONCL: Slide Diaphragm problem.

Since knocking it is working now , i am not changing the part anytime soon

If the problem persists, then only solution is to change the carburettor.

slide diaphragm in the carburettor is very delicate...Any damage to it will require replacement for proper functioning of combustion or fuel/air mixture.
Start saving 2K / month. After 60K kms, the bike requires change of key components.

Great to hear that! Yes, i got the "advanced version" 2 years back after my old one got stolen. Still miss it

The "advanced version" is not so much fun as compared to the older one. Maybe i got a lemon

Anyways, to the other dude get the diaphragm changed costs next to nothing. Don't spoil such a cool bike

idk the diaphragm price but everything here in kathmandu abt bajaj is twice or thrice more costly than in India...for eg.horn speaker costs here 500 per unit=300 inr....umm chain sprocket costs 3500=2200inr without labour costs....like that....

Hi everyone, I am going to buy a Pulsar 200 Dtsi 2008. And I am like would that bike fit me? So, present I have an Apache RTR 160 of same year 2008. Now, about me, I bike drive fast real fast, So, the apache is done with me. I feel bored already(bought it 6 months back). I need much power that would balance with an average mileage of 40KMPL. I will be going for tours like 300kms once in a month. The question is will the pulsar be having any problems with my kind of driving. Ofcource i wouldn't do 100's all the time. But, mostly when i feel like adrenaline rush. And also what price could i buy it for? Ofcource I know all about the bike major problems like "were the clutch plates worn out. If the cylinder kit is OK?" Do you want me to mind something else before buying?

                                Thank you.
