Wrt to stopping the production of the CB Twister - this was but expected, I feel it is a very under estimated bike. My heart was set on the CB Twister ever since its launch but mind took over at the time of the first purchase.

When I purchased my second bike I was extremely keen to buy the Twister only, but had to settle for its nemesis the Passion X PRO because both Honda dealers in Mumbai didn't stock the Twister at all owing to poor demand. They were pushing the Dream series and Shine.

For one, I have covered over 11,000 kms on the X PRO in 7 months and am all praises about the 110 cc Honda Twister sourced engine. I am surprised that I can extract a 64 kpl in city and about 68 kpl on highways. So Hero might have done a good job in tuning it.

Its a shame that Honda didn't keep upgrading this beautiful bike - such as a thicker tyres or didn't do much to refine or tune it further which could have pushed its sales further.

I only purchased the Hero because of the Twister sourced engine and nothing else. It is one gem of an engine that combines decent power for city commuting and also doesn't run out of breath on highway (manages well without vibrations up till 75 - 80 kph)

Its good that the same is available in the Dream Series but lacks the sheer, edgy style that was first available in the Twister half a decade back.

But I feel Honda has suddenly started behaving like Hero and making 'please all offend none' - slightly staid looking bikes.

Hi vishaldevnani8, welcome to the forum! Are you looking for any specific kind of info on the bike? You can find a lot of generic and very useful info about Twister in these pages - read from the beginning of the forum in your free time... Have fun!

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

My bike is nearing 5 years of ownership and 30000 KMs. It is still a good performer. I recently had a dip in mileage which I later figured was a loose chain (silly me). After correcting the slack the bike is performing well again.

I had a minor accident last year (cement mixer truck hit me from behind!) post which most parts of the bike was replaced. The chain/sprocket was also replaced during the last service.

My front tyre had picked up a puncture 2 years back. Recently it was loosing the air pressure rapidly and the local puncturewala has put 2 tubeless tyre repair strips into it saying the hole is very big. Still the pressure level is decreasing rapidly (especially in pot-hole ridden Bangalore roads!) and I am considering to replace the tyre. Any advises? I am having Continental Conti Go in the rear and would like to have something to complement the looks as well as good dry/wet grip. The options I am aware of are MRF and Ceat. Any user feedbacks will be great as well!

depends where the puncture is same happened with me too an old puncture where the sidewall of the tyre meets the tread was leaking the puncture wala pushed another strip into it saying the other puncture wala might have created a bigger hole

my bike wasn't giving good FE and black soot was getting accumulated on spark plug so today i tried to tune the carburetor to the settings described in the above pages now spark plug is too much clean instead of brown think i have made the mixture lean and the engine is shutting at low speeds so which screw to turn now and in which direction to make the mixture balanced
i am too obsessed with getting the brown plug please help if any of you is active

Splendor and Twister both use PB series carb but the difference is that splendor series use 18 mm venturi while twister series uses 16 mm venturi similar to pleasure and Activa.

Black smoke on warming up indicates that engine is burning excess fuel as compared to air which is giving out black smoke. And tuning is not leaning or richening the mixture but setting it perfect.

So to tune the bike follow this procedure:-

1. Warm the engine properly,
2. Increase the idle by turning the idle screw so that bike idles approx around 3k rpm(just approx by hearing sound).
3. Now fully tighten the screw(lightly as too tight and carb thread will go).
4, Now slowly open the air screw by 1/16 th of a turn.
5. Go on opening till you get highest idling. After the point where you get highest idling if you open more idle will decrease. So once again turn it in opposite direction. At the point where you get highest idling stop turning air screw.
6. Now decrease the idle from idle screw until engine gets into a steady idle (around 1000 rpm by sound).

First time you may feel awkward but with experience you will feel good. I can adjust air screw even without raising the rpm. This is the correct method of tuning the mixture of bike.

As for the spark plug photos then the correct mixture setting is this:-

This is my Joy plug. and you see the electrode is reddish brown like brick. This is the correct setting. Even after i have tuned my extreme, plug color is like this only.
this post is adressed to sibun others can also answer if they like any help will be appreciated
I have seen that only you have been able to get the brown plug in the whole of the cb twister forum i too have a 1.5 years old twister if you can explain the process in detail on tuning the carburetor (in the forum off course ) because i am not able to find the spot where the air fuel mixture is perfect are the turns different on different on different twisters
also when i had taken my bike to a local mechanic who adjusted the valve clearance and also rpm by a digital tachometer to 1500 saying its better than 1400 (he also has a twister ) but the bike wasn't giving good FE i told this to him he told that my bike's valves are damaged and i have to change them quoting the cost of valves rs 1500 i didn't believe him since it was a year back and my bike was new i also told him about the extended warranty on my bike which i have taken which would cover the valves or any manufacturing defect he told me the ASC guys would not change them so i thought the mech just wants to loot money and i stopped going to him
do you think the valves could be culprit here

FOund some time to reply to your query.

Ok coming to basics of carburettor tuning, then for tuning the carburettor you first should ensure the following thing.

1. The carburettor jets should be clean. If they are blocked then you will not be able to tune carb no matter what.

2. Air filter should be clean. Today manufacturers are giving viscous air filter which gets dirty easily and can't be cleaned. So ensure air filter is clean.

3. Spark plug is correct and not sorted. It must be giving strong and hard spark.

OK now coming to actual tuning.

1. Engine should be sufficiently warm and idling smoothly. Ride for 5-6 kms and get the engine warm.

2. Shut the engine. Now tighten the air screw slowly till it seats lightly on the end. Now back out and open 1.5 turns by counting .

3. Now start the bike. Increase idle by idle screw. Increase to 2.5k rpm or more just by hearing. No hard and fast rule.

4. Now slightly open the air screw, slowly 1/16 th of a turn at a time. You will see the idling increase.

5. At a point bike idle will be highest. From that if you move the air screw any direction, the idle will decrease. This is the perfect position.

6. Now decrease the idle to 1100 rpm just by feel. Bike strokes should be smooth and idle speed will be slow. That is the best idling speed.

And last but not least if any problem, get everything ready and call me. I will guide you by hearing the sound.
