My New Avy 220
Hi Guys, Got my new Avy and enoying the ride..... just a bit of problem, gear shifting is very cumborsome in it and its difficult to get to Neutral from second or firsy gear. Does it happen to all Avy's before first service???
Also can someone suggest me where to get weatherproof saddle bag in navi mumbai?

New Avenger 220 owner here.
I picked up an red Avenger after driving a Unicorn for little more than 5 yrs. The Unicorn was extremely reliable and a good companion over this period but I finally got bored of it. I did memorable rides on it (See bike ride Do Anna Blog)
Have driven around 1000Km in a month and first service done. Bike is running fine. Some initial thoughts:
- Great looks. Looks even better after I removed the backrest.
- Purrs like a beauty.
- Very comfortable on good roads.
- Very uncomfortable on rough roads. Even on small bumps the ride and pillion tends to get bounced in air.
- Fit n' finish is nowhere near Honda quality. In fact I broke the front right foot-peg on the 3rd day after a minor scrap with the footpath.
- First service experience with Khivraj Bajaj Indiranagr was not so great. I don't think they did anything other than wash the bike and apply polish. I had to wipe the polish myself after taking it home. Cost be 500 bucks.
- The rear view mirrors vibrate above 50 so much so that the rear view is a little blurred. If anyone knows a fix to it, please let me know.
- Gear shift is not smooth like Unicorn but have improved compared to first week.
- Finding neutral is a pain. I find that it is easier to find the neutral after killing the engine.

I own a black avenger 180 since Mar,06. Its been an amazing experience riding this bike. Its the best looking Indian cruiser and one can cruise for hundreds of kilometers without any back or shoulder pain. I never had any major issues with the bike, a little maintenance and timely service thats all it needs. As some of you already mentioned its built for the highways and great bike for touring. Unfortunately i never had any long tours but i have driven it for over 150 kms at a stretch many times and i never felt any discomfort.
I think Bajaj should add more power to its future models with bigger engines(400cc, 700cc, 1000cc, etc) to make it a complete beast.

Zilch in Bangalore.Originally posted by Digital_shubhi View PostI heard they give discounts on the MRP. How much it is?
The production is low and the bike moves as soon as it is available.
Looks like all Bajaj assembly lines are focussed on Pulsars.

I recently took delivery of a Wine Red Avy 220 in Chennai. There was no wait time as such, paid the initial on Saturday and took delivery on Tuesday.
The running has been so far so good except for minor issues like Idling and finding neutral.
Will post a detailed review sometime later.Rajkumar S

The Bajaj Avenger 220 cc DTSi Review
A Review On The Bajaj Avenger 220cc DTSi
The Avenger carries upon it a very high style quotient, the chrome plating gives a flamboyant silver look with a beautifully sculpted tank for a special retro feel and that low-slung cruiser look really makes the style statement and makes all the heads turn to you. On the Tank there is a low battery indicator, a high beam indicator and indication for the indicators. Also a good looking fuel gauge and all this is set on a chromed flat form. I give it a 9 on 10 in its styling. One mark deducted as some of the welding joints are not done neatly.
All good things come at a cost, same is the situation here if you are worried about the mileage of your bike, and you might not digest the ride. Riding at nominal speeds gives you an average of 35kmpl in city and 40kmpl on the highway. Even though the digital twin spark ignition technology gives good power and really good pick up and negligible emissions , improving fuel efficiency to a great extent Personally I never ride at nominal speeds hence as I told you I ride between 100kph and 110kmph , and at this speed the mileage will drop down to 30 kmpl. It has a fuel tank capacity of 14 liters and can easily take you 400 kilometers on a full tank. The reserve tank has a capacity of 2 liters, hence gives you a comfortable warning for the refueling.
