hi,
the headlight needs to be fixed by clips available in shops.
There are called headlight clips of bullet headlight.
BTW, how much did you cost and source? post its pic
As my avenger is completed its 700KM, i went to purchase 20w50 mineral engine oil for motorcycle. And to my surprise i couldnt find any. Visited several shops they all showed me multigrade car oil and told me its perfectly fine to use car oil in bike.
Shell mineral oil is available in 20w40.
Motul mineral oil is available in 15w50.
Motul 3100 (Which i believe is semi synthetic) is the only oil available in 20w50 and pack is also available in right size 1.15 litre.
Shall i go for semi synthetic oil for first service? Or shall i go with different grade mineral oil.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
PS. If anybody from Nashik can let me know where i can find right grade mineral oil it will be great too. Thanks.

use mineral oil that is bajaj oil till free services , and dont rip your bike till the use of miniral oil
reading this thread , man you guys sure make this bike sounds like the worst ever! mostly everyone is having trouble with their bike , be it oil leaking , bad brakes , just to name a few!
even online on other forums and irl i have heard nothing but complains about bajaj bikes , their lack of reliability , bad engines , etc
there is so much information out there, it's all so confusing.
i almost had my mind set on buying the bajaj avenger 150 street , it looked Ok to me, since its a short bike both my feet can easily reach the ground and from the short test drive i did , the bike felt just fine
it was only after i read the reviews of this bike , that made a bit hesitant in trusting bajaj as a company .
i just want someone who is an expereicend rider to tell me that i wont be making a mistake buying this bike * bajaj avenger 150 )
My usage is mainly city rides and maybe a 500km trip every month or so
i just want some reassurance that the engine wont give in after riding least 100km or so non stop
and that everyone telling me to stay away from bajaj is speaking from a point of ignorance
I just want a bike that's reliable, doesnt cost much to maintain it over the years , dont break apart too much and is a overall joy to ride.

why is this so hard?
I was having similar thoughts about buying Bajaj. I wanted Avenger 220 Cruise when I was looking to buy my first bike but out of budget restrictions I bought the cheapest bike of this country, Bajaj CT100B. Bajaj quality is fine, I have finished 10,000km on it, I ride around 1000km a month. You can read mine and fem other people's experience on owning a Bajaj bike in my CT100B ownership thread. Hope it helps, if you read all 32 pages.

Bajaj is just haunted by some noobs who mostly never complain run-in procedures. Also, the sheer number of sales makes them a soft target. I have seen pulsars doing 1 lakh without any engine rebore, 200ns doing 150k easy. And seen 2 lakh kms odo on many pulsars. Don't know where the hate for Bajaj comes from, but I have seen young riders who haven't even done 25k on odo talking about the quality of Bajaj. Go for the bike without doubts, Bajaj sells a lot, is cheap and easy to maintain and rock solid reliable. Cheers !

The last sentence of yours cheap and easy to maintain and rock solid reliable sums up 32 pages of the ownership thread I started. In one year the only maintenance-money I spent on my CT100B is 75/- air filter and 50/- for headlight bulb. I have used it almost in every city-riding condition, e.g. B2B traffic, heavy rains, mud, broken roads, 110 km in city non-stop. The bike just does not give up. One hell of a solid and reliable bike from Bajaj.

Thanks for the reply .
I had my mind almost set on getting the avenger 150, but now I am having second thoughts.
I want a bike that is good in the city and on which I can go on long rides. Possible leh ladakh in the future (?)
Today I am going to visit the local Suzuki dealer and test ride the new Gixxer SF .. the red color is so gorgeous.
If I felt that that bike is way too tall for me ( since I am really short , thanks Mom and Dad :/ ) , I will go for the avenger , hence Gixxer it is !!!
This would be my very first geared bike, so I am really quite excited .

After reading more than several thousand threads for more than a year on touring and city-riding on both xbhp and other international motorcycle forums, I will say, according to your touring needs, I will go for Avenger 220 Street/Cruise or Dominar. Avenger is very good if you are short (5.7 or less). Search for threads on Avenger/Dominar touring. I hardly tour and CT100B fits my city riding needs, that is why I love it.
I personally like Dominar and V15 more. I will not recommend Dominar because you are buying your first geared bike. 2nd, If your heart is set on Gixxer then go for it, don't think much, just go for it after a test ride. If you are confused then I will suggest you to wait for few weeks to kill your early excitement and immaturity. Do talk to the bike owners off-line. I talk to people while waiting on traffic lights. Every guy likes to talk about his bike. You will see people buy bikes for different reasons and they hate/love bikes for very different reasons. It is personal thing and that is why they say riding is 90% about the rider and 10% about the ride. Just do not hurry, read, search, talk and wait. Have patience.

For touring, look at higher cc Avengers. Just maintain the bike well, Bajaj bikes are bikes like others, need love on your part. Reason how they complete lakhs without hiccups. And do read the reply of guy above me, every word is gem. You can join my group for any help you need. Cheers !
My Recent ride to Hill station (Matheran) which is famous for its tight curve roads which are very steep .You can easily skid there.
Avenger easily climbed the hill without any issue. It was fun to ride Avenger on curves.
Total Distance one way- 180km.
See video here;

Rode Suzuki Gixxer sf today, sigh.
It was too big for me . Fudgestickles .
Why I have to be so short ? Is it my fault that I am such a midget ? Is it my parents, maybe they didn't feed me a healthy diet while i was growing up Or is it genetics?
While i can kinda manage the bike, i wouldn't feel comfortable getting a bike on which both my feet cant touch the ground .
Not going to lie I am low-key pissed that i wont be getting a gixxer, the street presence of that bike is miles ahead of avenger. ( no offence to any avenger owners )
I am having a feeling that this won't be the first time my height will prove as a disadvantage for me in life . FML
So, the way things are looking right now I will be getting a Bajaj Avenger after all .
Now the question is which one will suit my needs , the 150cc or the more powerful 220cc .
I am leaning towards the street 150 model , even though i am aware that the price difference between both 150 and 220 models is not that big. Street 150 being Rs90250 OTR and Street 220 being around 1.01 lacs approx , so around 10k or so .
But I think over the long run the 150 will end up saving me a significant amount of cash in both maintenance and fuel.
Please tell me the 150 is capable of touring. I wont be going on 1000+ kms ofc on this bike, just north of 400-500kms . Like Jaipur to udaipur / delhi , etc . Maybe a tour once a month once I am out of the engine break in process .
I rode avenger few moons back and it was so comfy , it felt like i was in control and bonus being its literally the only bike in the market on which both my tiny feet can rest on the ground.
At this point I am open to all suggestions, if you think there is another bike in the market I should test drive and will be comfortable for me, please let me know.
