      'The incident' between Rossi and Stoner explained - Motorcycle racing news: Moto GP - Visordown

      IN the build-up to the Le Mans race the growing tension between Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi is no more than an on-track misunderstanding.
      Recalling the testing incident that saw Stoner supposedly baulk Rossi under braking at the Estoril circuit, Casey commented: "I wanted to see what the Ducati was capable of, so I pulled to the side to let Valentino past... but I missed the braking... I didn't want to overtake him, but I ran a little wide and came past him too quickly."
      Defusing the situation between the pair, in a rivalry that has been poked by the press since their clash at Laguna Seca in 2008, the Australian dismissed any more controversy between himself and the Italian, "The only real incident between Rossi and I was at Jerez, with the missed intervention of the marshals; there is nothing else beyond that. Now I'm focused on recuperating points to Jorge and Dani, who were both strong again in Portugal." said Stoner in closing.
      Rossi joined the Repsol Honda rider in lessening the hype around the disagreement: "Yes, sure, he is correct," Valentino said with a grin,

        IMO, the 'pussies' was a bit uncalled for. Lorenzo got the better of it I guess. Want to see if/how Rossi responds to that.

            Man Simoncelli jumped in out of the blue! Sad that Lorenzo couldn't make it to the front row but the race will tell!

            DISCLAIMER: The following question has been put out bluntly and without any past knowledge of the status of the riders/bikes. Please excuse.

            Why is the Ducati still not showing any signs of improvement or is there something wrong with 46 and 69? They looked completely dull today.

              So the revised carbon fiber chassis is not working... while one does not expect podiums there should have been improvements... must be frustrating for Rossi and Nicky... previously the shoulder and the bike had problems therefore the over 1 sec difference to the front runners... now the shoulder is ok but the bike still has problems still over a 1 sec difference... one can't help but wonder is Rossi going the Schumacher way...

                More sparks between Lorenzo & Sic

                Last night saw the highly anticipated Safety Commission meeting take place at Le Mans, and beyond regular attendees Valentino Rossi, Loris Capirossi, Nicky Hayden and lately Marco Simoncelli, there were also appearances by and Elias. The topic of the night was 'safe overtaking', and most of the attention was being focused on Simoncelli, to the point where he nearly got up and walked out.

                "I feel like I am on trial, and I don't like it," Sic confessed to Spanish reporter Emilio Perez De Rozas, of "el Periodico".

                Trying to keep things cordial were the veteran Capirex, and even Carmelo Ezpeleta in person: "keep calm, Marco, we are here to discuss this in a relaxed way."

                The reality is that Sic was only being used as an example for some of the arguments being made. Proof of this is a clarification which is hard to deny: "are we talking about nothing? About something that hasn't happened? Does that mean we need to wait until something happens before we take action?"

                Sharing the same mindset with Lorenzo and Stoner during the meeting was Dovizioso, who is known to dislike Simoncelli, but also known for being a very honest guy.

                Simoncelli was obviously still unhappy: "is the only safe place on track the straights?" To which Toni Elias added, "there will still be some contact, but we are professionals so hopefully we know what we are doing."

                "The problem - Sic added after the meeting - is that Lorenzo is now afraid of me, because I'm fast".
                The response from Jorge didn't take long: "I'm afraid? Stoner is the fastest guy right now and I'm not afraid of him. Marco just needs to understand that he can't ride the way he has."

                Stoner himself tried to offer some consolation to Simoncelli after the meeting, telling him: "Don't worry Marco, I respect you, and you are doing very well right now."

                "So why were you attacking me in there?", the Italian inquired.
                "Because sometimes you are too aggressive, and you need to calm down", Casey replied.

                    ^^^ Simoncelli reminds me of John Kocinski... that guy was sure interesting... also these guys are not doing anything new... the sniping was there during Roberts - Sheene, Spencer - Mamola, Gardner - Lawson and Rainey - Schwantz days... it just adds colour to the whole thing...

                        He sure doesn't care about fellow riders.Bloody hell! Pedrosa loses out on points..Good to see him through the penalty lap and lose his only chance to be on the podium;as the adage goes,As you sow so shall you reap!..

                        Whoa! Rossi on podium.. Lorenzo's ego-bruised!
                        If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

                          Lorenzo pulled a dirty one on Dovi too.

                          good race by Dovi.
                          the last few laps looked like 2003.
                          i so wanted ROssi to pull Sete.

                          Simoncelli was playing Wipeout... hahaha. was a Sic(k) move.

                          Dani n Sic both pushed hard into that corner...
                          and from the looks of it... Dani pushed hard...

                          wonder if he would have made it thru the corner if Simoncelli weren't breathing down his neck being there.

                          i hope Dani isn't injured.

                          Illegal Maneuver: Ride thru Penalty.
                          (I think he deserved it)

                          Stoner was on screen about 3 times in the race.
                          I think he won. what the heck is he on?

                            Sic beaks Ped's right collar bone.. Ped was on the inside line and in front of Sic.. sic should have yielded.. this year too one of the top riders will be out

                            Rossi starts his porfium count with ducati...
                            Nice ride by dovi 2 in a row.. never expected this...

                              absolutely agree.. now only if ducati can get their game back together.. we'll see rossi giving the young muts a spanking every race...
