This guy deserves a 'satellite' Desmo at least: http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2013/E...eat+prototypes.
Is he ever going to retire?!

When a guy pays that much attention even to the commentary then I tend to trust such commentOriginally posted by Makky View PostNick Harris said that just before the riders and the teams occupied the grid. It was when the cameraman was shooting from the helicopter. Anyway, it doesn't matter!

Are you sure you were watching MotoGP and not Motocross when you saw bikers jumping on their bikesOriginally posted by sunilyo View PostA noob question. Why do motogp riders jump on their bikes when starting or getting up after a crash?

Guess he meant when they push start the Bike. Before Popping the clutch , they seem like they give a a little jerk.(Having said that, they do it while starting the bike in pits too)
Dunno why they do thatLast edited by Braumabull; 04-25-2013, 12:08 PM.Ernest Hemingway

Ha ha.Originally posted by The Monk View PostAre you sure you were watching MotoGP and not Motocross when you saw bikers jumping on their bikes

I was watching MotoGP. Actually they jump on the seats i think it has something to do with starting the bike, but dont know the reason why they do it. I guess these bikes do not have a starter / ignition button hence they are started using alternate options, but dont understand how jumping on the bike helps.

No these bikes don't have starter motors. It will only add weight.Originally posted by sunilyo View PostHa ha.

In the pitlane or on the grid, they are started with an external starter. Next time you watch, you will see them putting it under the rear wheel to start the bike. It does the same job as push starting the bike.
But if they crash or if they engine shut offs just before race start, they need to physically push these bikes. Because these bikes run very high compression ratios, therefore the bikes are very difficult to push start. The most difficult bikes to push start are the Moto 3 bikes. Very rarely do these bikes start with a push.
The reason why they jump onto the bike is so that once the engine starts they can get on and ride, if not they will first have to start the bike and then take a mahurat, say a little prayer, take out their phones and call their loved ones etc. Just kidding btw. Time is of the essence and jumping onto the bike while in motion saves you a few precious seconds.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Re: MotoGP 2013 Season - Updates
True..that's what Suppo said about him..that he moves a lot on the bike. Unlike other top riders.
I guess the jump he's talking about is when others are pushing the bike and the rider jumps on the seat when he's already on the bike.Originally posted by The Monk View Post

If that's he's talking about, then that is done to put more weight on the rear tire when they release the clutch in gear, which inturn pulls the chain which in turn rotates the crankshaft and helps bump start the engine. these bikes are very light and compared to the configuration of the engine they do need more than just a simple push to bump start. That's why they put extra weight on the rear with a slight jump on the seat to get more traction for that moment.Last edited by R-series; 04-25-2013, 07:45 PM.Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.
