The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Quite an unexciting race in terms of "battles". Congratulations to Marquez. Great ride.
Cal finished well ahead of Rossi despite being on a '12 M1. Satellite teams are never supposed to be beating Factory teams. Not good for Rossi. Somehow, he needs to break away from Bradl-Cal-Bau-Dovi group and run with the top 3.
Lo seems to be in his own world, lap after lap hitting the same consistency.
Well, looks like Ped is going to be the #2 in the Honda camp all his life!

Spanish riders take their first wins in all three classes.
17 year old Alex Rins won the first ever race at Austin, Texas. He kept the experienced Vinales and dogfighter Salom at Bay in a restarted race. Indian team Mahindra's Miguel Oliveira took a credible 5th place after starting from 18th on the grid. -

In Moto 2 Nicolas Terol won the race convincingly, with Rabat and Kallio taking the remaining two podiums. Rabat took Kallio on the last corner of the very last lap. Scott Redding was suffering from tyre wear issues from the 3rd lap itself, while Pol crashed out of the race. -

MotoGP saw an old record being broken by Marc Marquez of Freddie Spencer. He stalked teammate Pedrosa for more than half race distance before finally making his move, after which he rode a solid race coming under pressure from Dani who tried to fight back unsuccessfully. Lorenzo took a lonely third, while Brit Crutchlow did a stellar job of taking 4th ahead of Bradl and Rossi who had prior track experience. The first Ducati was Dovi who fought with Bautista to take 7th. While the top American was a disappointed Hayden. Marquez also took the Championship lead, even though he is tied on points with Jorge Lorenzo, with Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi just 8 and 11 points adrift respectively. Lorenzo also secured his 100th podium.

congrats to marc for breaking and making a world record.
one thing i hate about motogp is that the race is so god damn machine oriented, and if you are not on the best machine, you are doomed. still lorenzo fought bravely.
in both the races till now, marc was ahead of dani and lorenzo was ahead of rossi.
is it going to be a championship fight between lorenzo and marc... ??
rossi needs to improve his qualifying, you can't fight for podiums from 3rd row.
crutchlow was superb, brilliant, man he deserves to be on a factory ride.

Hmmm. Yet Cal with inferior machinery went faster than Rossi and Bradl, who both have factory spec bikes. He was also quite close to Lorenzo and was setting the fastest laps of the race after overtaking Bradl. Fighting spirit takes precedence over machinery. Even Aleix Espargaro was faster than Smith and Spies and not far off Iannone, all on higher spec prototypes!Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Rossi very well did it in the first raceOriginally posted by Makky View PostRossi ...needs to break away from Bradl-Cal-Bau-Dovi group and run with the top 3.

On this new track COTA, Rossi was uncomfortable from the first time they practiced on it. It was always going to be a difficult race for him. And it seems that he faced quite a serious issue with the brakes on his motorcycle during the race...:
Next races shall be better. But an amazingly fantastic race by Marc Marques. He out-performed Pedrosa again consecutively. The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

Yeah, he told that in the post-race debrief. But, I 'd still say that he is 'wasting' a lot of time in most races riding behind these racers in the first half of the race. What he loses there can't be made up even if, he sets the fastest lap-times in the second half. That's where JLo is capitalizing. Vettel has a similar strategy too - get the lead, maintain the pace and see the chequered flag.Originally posted by Satellite.kid View PostRossi very well did it in the first race

Don't why, but, I felt right from the beginning that COTA is built more in favour for an F1 than MotoGP.
Well, this is quite disappointing:
Crutchlow's enjoyment was dampened by the fact that no one came to his press debrief after the race. A combination of an overly long press conference, and a timing clash with Valentino Rossi, whose debrief had been hastily rescheduled with complete disregard to the previously agreed schedule, drawn up so that as many journalists as possible got to speak to as many riders as possible. A group of journalists gathered to hear the man who came 6th, ten seconds behind Crutchlow, but no one came to see Crutchlow, who had just ridden one of the best races of his career. The media are a fickle mistress, more interested in fame than in actual achievement.

Fresh from a best-ever result in the opening round at Qatar for the only Indian team in Grand Prix motorcycle racing, the all-new Mahindra MGP3O went two better at a tense two-part race at the Circuit of The Americas in Texas, when Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira claimed a superlative fifth place finish.
Our best-ever result consolidates our very encouraging start at Qatar. This bike is still very new, and already it is strong. We can be confident that it will improve with more development. I am very proud of the team and what we achieved today. I am also interested to see whether we can close the gap even more at the next race in Jerez.

I agree on this. Rossi must improve on his qualifying so that his fight for the front doesn't become unnecessarily difficult.Originally posted by Makky View Post...But, I 'd still say that he is 'wasting' a lot of time in most races riding behind these racers in the first half of the race. In my opinion, even though Lorenzo came 3rd on COTA, this still wasn't a good race for him and Rossi. For Rossi, it was obviously a bad race. But even Lorenzo couldn't challenge the 2 factory hondas. Yes, he came 3rd but his race was without a challenge in any which way you see it (neither could he challenge nor was he challenged).Last edited by Satellite.kid; 04-22-2013, 08:20 PM.The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

Yeah, I know. And Nick Harris said that, COTA is a mixture of bits and pieces from many tracks.Originally posted by The Monk View PostCOTA & BIC = Herman Tilke = F1. These are not motorcycle racing friendly tracks.
He couldn't challenge the Hondas nevertheless lowering the second gear paid off for him and he 'd move away from the mid-pack. IMO, give a track that doesn't favour either of the 2 machines and I reckon that JLo 'd claim the top spot in most cases.Originally posted by Satellite.kid View PostI agree on this.
