Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates

Nice read Makky. Got mixed emotions. On one side I didn't know what was his importance in the 2 stroke era. Felt very elated reading that. On the other hand, felt depressed about his exit and the doubt on Rossi.

Another story - Smith was faster than Dani today, he says:
"I knew with the new bike that I could carry more corner speed and didn't have to worry as much about picking up the bike and I could use the side grip more," said Smith. "It's about trusting it a little more and carrying more corner speed.

"I didn't expect this lap time but I knew that with new rubber that I could do a 1m 30s lap. I'm happy with how the season ended and I'm happy with the package now. It's everything I was searching for throughout the season and we were able to improve and unlock the keys to the bike.

Mentioned there. Back then, the crew chief decided all the aspects. Now, they 've specialized people - Ohlins provide their boys to each team, electronics 're everywhere and too complex, etc etc.
In short, they 've too many captains in 1 team. And they all pull in diff. directions which make things more complicated.
But, given the right attitude, it can work great.

Well, I remember reading this somewhere. Honda a few years ago nicked 3 (Electronics) engineers from Yamaha and this made a huge impact to the RCV's performance.

wow, you say they've nicked engineers, next year they've got their eyes on Jorge, they are offering to help Ducati improve their stuff..who says money isn't everything? If it can get you 99% of the stuff, I consider that everything
I'm sure Jorge would be thinking about his future sooner or later..Money will be an important factor if not now..in the next renewal for sure.

Jorge is in a real strong position right now. Yamaha absolutely must have him to have any chance at the championship. I am sure he'll be offered a fat pay packet and treated like a king. Also, there is no doubt Jorge is going to keep his options open. Didn't you notice the friendly smiles and handshakes with the Honda guys after winning a race. ;-)

Both the issues are quite old, man.

Lorenzo was in their list even in 2011 and 2012. Pedrosa's seat was on fire. But, Lorenzo stuck to Yamaha. This "Lorenzo to Honda" is Stoner-wild card-PI's Spanish cousin!

HRC 'offering' to help Ducati has been doing rounds since a year or so.

Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates

i want Yorgay/Horhey/Yorgi () to stay in yamaha...not only because without him yamaha has pretty much absolutely no chance of winning anything for several years down the line from now, but also because with so many years in yamaha i see him as a very loyal yamaha guy (primarily more so because 2-3 times he has not left yamaha for some other teams despite those other teams reportedly offering him more money) and for at least 3 straight years he has been the lone yamaha rider taking it to the utterly strong repsol duos single-handedly...he's always said he wants to be in yamaha till the end of his motogp career, so let's also hope yamaha gives him whatever he needs to win as well.

but yes he is on honda's shopping list for 2015 bigtime, now more than ever i guess.

of course, by end 2014, 99 vs 93 would have increased even more and them both in same team might end up disastrous for the whole team and then maybe end-2016 marquez might end up saying "me or lorenzo ?" to repsol, LOL

repsol honda nicking yamaha's engineers by giving them more cash happened in 2009-10..this is an article from that time - Engineering "Brain Drain" Sees Yamaha Technicians Move To Repsol Honda | MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks

ducati has embarrassed themselves to shit in motogp for years, but particularly for 3 years now, and lately also in WSBK (although with EVO rules in SBK in place from 2015 they maybe back to doing at least respectable there), so yeah maybe yamaha or honda helping them on the side is the only way to get them to learn how to make proper GP bikes.

Bradley Smith's time was faster than 99's qualifying time this past weekend. And David Emmett tweeted that the track was relatively slower today. I'm genuinely shocked at this turn of events.

He's using the new M1 with latest parts. It's ok. But yes he is riding it better than the older M1. Says it's got everything I wanted.

Bradley Smith rode the revised Yamaha which Cal used in the later part of this season which had the revised fuel tank position. But he stunned everyone by placing second to Marc Marquez and just 300's of the seconds slower than Marc. Also Pol is getting adopted to the bike faster

Smith was running a qualifying lap with very little fuel and going all out. Tests are now way to gauge performance for sure. It is only the racing. Can't wait for the racing to start

Hayden on the Honda was much slower than A. Esp on the Yammie. Bout half a second. But Hayden rode for only half the day, while Aoyama took testing duties for the other half. Ducatis are the only consistent factor

Waiting for 2014 races to start !!!

He's running 2013 factory-team spec Yamaha. And he managed a time faster than Lorenzo's qualifying time. By extension, he was FASTER than Lorenzo on the same bike. Of course the times were done on different days and different track conditions and so on, but just the fact that Smith's qualifying-style-lap time was competitive with Lorenzo's actual qualifying lap is a HUGE deal. Given his performances this year, I was not expecting this.

Oh...he said the improved Yamaha is impressive, so I thought he's running 2014 upgrades like Jorge and Yamaha. Well in that case, that is a shocking performance.

Btw, isn't this the same thing Marc snipped off from Dani's bike.
