Nothing to be surprised of. Dovi is the better rider of the two

For now Dovi could be but for 2015...lets see. He's doing great but before Ducati in Monster Tech-3 Yamaha Cal Crutchlow was consider top 7 contender or great 7 for motogp title. His performance was always close to the podium.

For best part of the race, I believed the top step of today's podium was Lorenzo's. Considering that Marquez made a pass in the previous turn, Lorenzo shouldn't have let that slip stream for Marquez in the next turn. But he followed his regular line leaving the stream open for Marquez who doesn't miss a single chance! And the rest is now history! Nevertheless, both were very very exciting to watch today.

Next group too was strong. Very glad that Rossi could keep those two behind him. Dovi is closing the gap between him and the top four race by race. Couldn't wait for 2015 already!

In 2011, Dovi stood 3rd in the standings after Stoner and Lorenzo at 228 points. Repsol Honda retained Pedrosa for 2012. Dovi jumped on a Tech3 in 2012, scored 218 points and was 4th. That's Tech3's best result so far. Cal scored 188 points last year and it was his 3rd season on the bike and the GP career. Ben Spies won the WSBK title in 2009, moved to Tech3 for 2010 and collected 176 points.

Simply put, Dovi is a much better rider than Cal. And so is Ben Spies. Or was.

Yamahas are working great off late but, still not enough to stop MM and his Honda.

This was an interesting race. Only two riders had the best setup for this race -- Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo. Also, here their bikes were visibly equivalent. Gain a little here, lose a little there, the balance was parity. It was MM93 who made the difference with his aggressive riding and passes (a bit too aggressive according to Lorenzo).

The second group (Rossi, Pedro, and surprisingly Dovi) could keep the pace of the first two for a few laps, then had to slow down a bit. The 8 seconds gap between the first two and this group battling for 3rd place shows that the setup of the Honda 26 and Yamaha 46 were not as good as Honda 93 and Yamaha 99. Pedrosa and Rossi couldn't keep perfect lines. Dovi's setup was probably as good as possible for the current Ducati and he took advantage of this situation staying with them for the entire race, constantly trying to beat at least one of them (and wasn't so far from succeeding). Well done.

So now my impression is that we have Honda and Yamaha much closer than at the beginning of the season, - what makes the difference is always setup and, of course, the Rider.

No matter whoever one loves or salutes, one can't deny/ignore Rossi for his towering presence and contributions for bike racing as a whole. After all these years, he is still going strong!

Reminds me of an excerpt from Stoner biography, that he used to live out of a trailer and buy food which was just about to expire because it was cheaper. We never know the amount of sacrifices these guys have to make in their personal lives. A big credit to every one of them and their parents as well.
