Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates
well that was an interesting and entertaining ****ing race in all kinds of ways :P lots of interesting overtakes between MM and JL in the first half, then between DP and MM for a lap, then the rain mixed in with the fun.
it was lorenzo's head in right place and MM's (and dani's) a bit too over confidence that played a crucial role in the race outcome...good thing JL wasn't thinking so high of himself with riding slicks on increasing rain and did the sensible thing at right time or else surely he'd have crashed too like dani and marc.
rossi's crash was a bit scary with his bike coming so near to smashing him.. good thing he's ok and his bike didnt actually hit him..

Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates
It was bad to see innone and Rossi crash so early...there was something fishy with artificial grass it seems.
Brilliant fight by lorenzo...and it paid him well in the end.
Overestimating ones abilities and too much bravery can sometimes be injurious to health and ones fortunes too.
When was the last time there was no honda on podium.

We all go through the phase of losing Moto3 championships???Originally posted by Makky View PostDidn't watch Moto3 but, it seems to me that Miller is going to bin his run for the championship thanks, to all drama surrounding his move to MotoGP. Lack of focus for the present. We all go through this phase in life.
I know the astroturf had water in it, didn't know it had fish as well there. A tropical forest we had on track it seemsOriginally posted by princesirohi View PostIt was bad to see innone and Rossi crash so early...there was something fishy with artificial grass it seems.

Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates
First, the safety commission had already promised to remove the so called "astroturf" os synthetic grass, but they promised it for next year - wrong, safety comes first.
This said, all crashes came from riders' mistakes; Iannone went in just too hot, and Valentino too; he was lucky to come out unscathed, it looked bad. Pity because with the colder temperature the Yamahas were competitive again, able to use the tires well, and where fighting it out on the dry on par with the Hondas.
The choice of two HRC riders to continue on slicks under a strong rain was difficult to understand, especially in the case of MM93. I hope he is not getting into some kind of omnipotence delusion, it would be bad. Lorenzo, won, sure, and kudos to him for not making mistakes; but without the gift of the incredible suicide of the two Hondas he would probably have finished third.
Last but not least, Dovi threw away a chance to win a GP when he postponed swapping the bike and also crashed. In the wet the Ducati is always very fast and Dovi is very strong in those conditions. So the departing Crutchlow, of all Ducati riders, enjoyed the podium.
Aleis Espargaro also took advantage of the situation to score his best result ever. It is not every day that two factory Hondas, two factory Ducatis and one factory Yamaha kindly get out of the way... It was outsiders' day for the two lower steps of the podium.::J4RN0::

Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates
Guys, I need some confirmation on my understanding.
AFAIK any team entering the championship in Open category would be stripped off of all such benefits if they achieve any one of the following:
a) 1 win
b) 2 second positions
c) 3 third positions
Now, Ducati Team have achieved the following feats thus far:
3rd - Dovi - COTA
2nd - Dovi - Assen
3rd - Cal - Aragon
Will that not technically satisfy category "c" I listed? Can someone throw some light please?Contribute to the environment.

3 podiums under "Dry Race". Assen was a Wet race when the lights went off. One more to go and they 'll lower the fuel limit.Originally posted by nirvaana View PostGuys, I need some confirmation on my understanding.

Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates
Read sometime back that all full-spec factory bikes don't need clutch-in for downshifts now which means that the riders use it only when they set the bike in motion and to prevent the engine from shutting off when they have a low-side. Too many rider aids. It isn't right. Then, there's auto-throttle blipper too.
@The Monk: Are you there? Or patching through messages from Sunny?
Heard that de Puniet might go to WSBK/WSS for the next season.Last edited by Makky; 09-30-2014, 06:44 PM.

Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates
Isn't this what the seamless gearbox was all about? Why the Yamahas could not downshift as fast as the Hondas and keep the bike as stable. At least that is what i thought.Originally posted by Makky View PostRead sometime back that all full-spec factory bikes don't need clutch-in for downshifts now which means that the riders use it only when they set the bike in motion and to prevent the engine from shutting off when they have a low-side. PS: I love the name: Suzuki GSX-RR!

The factory M1s got the seamless gearbox last year but, this aspect was made a special mention this season. Don't remember - either Emmett or Oxley who wrote about it.Originally posted by The Monk View PostIsn't this what the seamless gearbox was all about? Alright! Got some video - Emmett talking about M1's seamless gearshifts.
2013: No clutch for up-shifts.
2014: No clutch for up-shifts and down-shifts.
RCV had it for many years.

It's a bit strange for me since I myself don't use clutch on my road-going bike for up-shifts at or above 6000rpm once the engine is warmed up.Last edited by Makky; 09-30-2014, 07:45 PM.

Seamless was for upshifts. Downshifts they dont have seamless unlike Honda. Or they didnt have.Originally posted by Makky View PostPS: I love the name: Suzuki GSX-RR!

Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates
It's not just about not using the clutch for upshifts; that was done since the times of Hailwood, with maybe just a gentle sliding of the clutch for downshifts, and that's what we all do with our street bikes when we get serious. "Seamless" means that you do not even have to close or adjust the throttle ever, and with the kind of power involved in MotoGP that makes all the difference: great stability in acceleration with no "pumping" and greater smoothness when downshifting on the brakes in corner entry.::J4RN0::
