Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates
I find Oaxley's interpretation of Rossi's "new" riding style more of an exercise in brilliant article-writing than anything to be taken too seriously. Rossi adopted that style relatively late, although already at Ducati he had begun doing something like that; its "inventors" have been Stoner and Pedrosa. The necessity to bring more weight forward is due to the nature of the modern tires, that require a lot of traction on the rear wheell, which is achieved by moving the engine back in the frame; then in order to compensate for that and balance the load at the front when needed, the rider is obliged to move forward. Since he cannot of course go up and over the fairing, the only way is sidewise and down; the position twists and stresses the wrists a lot, so riders now do specific training to withstand that kind of strain. Then from that position they have to pick up the bike quickly when exiting the corner. The aspect of hanging down and very low has been pushed to the limit not just by Marquez, but actually by an entire generation of Moto2 riders (just look at Bradl and Redding &C); one may mention Toni Elias as an early pioneer of this "hanging out" technique, only maybe at a time it didn't give any advantage...). The last of the four top riders to (partially) adopt this style has been Lorenzo, who has resisted it until this season in favor of his trademark smooth and round speedy way of negotiating corners, reminiscent of the old 250cc style.::J4RN0::

Mat Oxley is one of the most respected names when it comes writers/authors/journalists who write about MotoGP and/or the riders. Irrespective of the rest of your post, you come across as naive from your first sentence.Originally posted by J4rn0 View PostI find Oaxley's interpretation of Rossi's "new" riding style more of an exercise in brilliant article-writing than anything to be taken too seriously...Last edited by Satellite.kid; 09-18-2014, 04:09 PM.The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

I share the same opinion. Mat has also raced in the past and has rich experience.

It is Oxley
I found Oxley's article very interesting. Focus more on the fact of how Rossi is adapting his riding style at this age. Which is amazing to say the least and the logical path that he walks down to come to that conclusion. A true artist he is!
At the same time i found J4s comment very insightful. Disagreeing with the PM is no crime, why should disagreeing with a writer be a big deal, especially when a good writer rather put questions in peoples head and not just want people to believe everything at face value.

Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates
In 2015 the MotoGP grid will expand with the return of two major brands: Suzuki and Aprilia. Following the recent announcement by Aprilia and Gresini Racing on their four-year MotoGP agreement, we recall the long and illustrious history of Aprilia in the World Championship.

"When did you last see a Yamaha out-accelerate a Honda during a MotoGP race?" - Oxley
that's exactly what i thought during Sunday's race. I'm really hoping VR gets better over the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
again. exactly what i was thinking while watching the race. he slowed down to a halt and was then separated from the bike.
maybe a fraction of a second before he came to a halt..

I also hope VR46 and Yamaha will continue performing as at Misano, but it has to be seen. Misano is a track where almost all hard braking can be effectively done with the bike upright, which takes away one of the main advantages Hondas have shown so far - a superior capacity for deep trail braking into the corner; then, the surface was slippery, and that can partly explain the unprecedented Yamaha advantage in acceleration, thanks to its better mechanical grip, while Hondas were sliding more and could not put down their superior power.Originally posted by xionite View Post"When did you last see a Yamaha out-accelerate a Honda during a MotoGP race?" - Oxley

Rossi however said they have found some good new setting in his garage, and he hopes that will work also at other tracks. Again, let's hope that's the case and we can see close racing with three or four riders battling for the win. There is very little separating Marquez, Pedrosa, Rossi and Lorenzo in terms of pure skill - we have witnessed how even Marquez' undeniable superiority is tied to exploiting small advantages here and there, and can be effectively attacked as soon as circumstances change just a little. We saw the same for Lorenzo, Stoner, and Rossi before.::J4RN0::
