• Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates

LCR Honda to be blamed, and not Bradl alone for the disaster. The suspensions weren't dialed in - was soft. Don't know if, the team managed to plonk in the carbon brakes. Wet bikes have the steel ones.

Wondering if, the Ducati has made the Desmo softer and hence, more usable. Yes, the softer tyre and the fuel rule are helping them a lot.

Well, although Rossi was the first to reach the exit of pit lane before the start, he chose a wrong spot. It was hard for him to accelerate, brake and take the first corner especially, when a mad bull like Aleix Esp was next to him with elbows out.

MM is an engineered robot! Nothing 'd stop him.

Though stefen bradl option for slick tyre but his bike was set for wet condition, like soft suspension, probably change in ecu performance, swing arm, chassis. Other rider change their ride. I think if stefen has just change his bike earlier, podium was his for sure though marc and pedrosa will surely catch him.

I have little hope from Dani hereafter. Jorge, he needs to sort out his brain first. Rossi, it will be asking for too much from the old man. Someone please give one of the new entrants a factory ride. Till then MM will keep smiling!

Pedrosa rode brilliantly and did a great job keeping up with Marquez for the entirety of the race.

But the best moment of the race for me was Lorenzo lunging forward past Rossi to move into 4th position.

It was ballsy and it was intentional. He was literally making a point.

pedrosa tried that at catalunya. he ended up conceding second position to rossi.

pedrosa can't touch marquez (unless he literally touches marquez) ha!

well you can say what you want but your can't call him boring.

he wins from pole.
he wins after losing 10 grid positions.
he wins after running into the gravel.
he wins after starting from the pits.

it's anything but boring.

Bradl's biggest issue was brakes. He had steel brakes on slicks.
He had no stopping power.

Like James Toseland said...
The difference between carbon brakes and steel brakes at 200mph can be as much as losing 20 meters.
Bradl could have been braking 20 meters later if his bike had carbon brakes. that is a LOT to lose.

why in the world would he finish 16th unless he crashed or something?
Danilo Petrucci finished ahead of Bradl for crying out loud.

Maverick vinales about to pilot suzuki product from 2015 on moto2. Last decision still to be made. I'd be happy if he moves cuz suzuki has spend lots of cash on developing new prototype engine.

For LCR and Bradl, choosing to use slick tires with a wet setup was a gamble that would have paid if the conditions had remained 50-50, half dry, half wet. But it actually dried up quickly. Not much blame to throw around, risky choices can pay dividends if luck is on your side, otherwise they are just that... risky.

Ducati can play with more fuel so that in itself can allow for maps that make the engine more tractable (...or less intractable). Don't think they changed this old engine much, the effort is all on the new, lighter and smaller engine that will debut at Valencia.

Rossi manged the front row in teh pit lane, that was already good, but then lacked the confidence on the front tire and was slow approaching the first corner. Marquez was brilliant in that circumstance as well. But the real issue there is that race direction should have allowed all riders the time to make their changes and go to the grid, it would have taken what, 10 minutes? I understant satellite TV timings rule, but business consideration cannot rule everything and that was a really dangerous lack of decision in a crucial moment. Luckily nothing happened.

Thank you Monk for the link. Valentino says 30% of the current electronics are useful for safety, 70% are useful only for performance. He proposes to cut that 70% and put performance back into riders's hands. Perfect thinking! I doubt the manufacturers will agree though...

if that happens, we'll see Rossi, Crutchlow and Edwards fighting for the championship next year.

haha. well, maybe not Edwards.

Jack Miller to LCR Honda for 2 years and might take Pedrosa's seat for 2017 if, he does well. HRC is careful not mess up Marquez' run at the moment. Wonder why Vinales isn't in the mix up! He hasn't signed anything although he been linked to Suzuki. Also, there's Luis Salom - he is as good as Vinales too.

Dovi at Ducati for 2 years.

It's good that Miller didn't make the jump to MotoGP. It would have been too much of a risk.

A couple of seasons on a Moto2 bike will definitely prep him for a debut factory Repsol Honda in 2017.

I'm very curious to see what Crutchlow does. Don't want to see him renew his contract with Ducati.

Really hope he gets a competitive bike for 2015.

xionite: Jackass will ride either a Honda RCV or a production racer. LCR Honda might field 2 bikes - a prototype and a pdn racer. HE IS COMING TO MotoGP STRAIGHT UP, just like his countryman Gary McCoy!

Well, Cal will stay at Ducati. Confirmed.
