What surprised me more than anything else was how did Masbou overtake 30 riders and lead the race for a while after that error! Or am I wrong?!

Damn....this guy is unstoppable, unbeatable and durable. I'm sure if Lorenzo move to Honda Repsol than he would be able to beat Marquez. What a run by lorenzo matching yamaha with honda repsol superiority.Put The Pedal To The Metal

Moto3. Yes, that is where the action is nowadays! Most of the top 7 led the race at at least one point of time. Tough luck for Alex Marquez though. Could see how happy Miller was to finish ahead of A.Marquez.
MotoGP: Rossi had a great start (best in this season I feel), swept through corners as though swiping butter on a bread. Maintained gap from Marquez even through the straights, applied brakes very very late... albeit for only 10 laps. How I wish he was able to do that throughout the race! I was hoping for a mouth-watering battle between the two yamahas for second place, but Lorenzo was very strong, set consistent pace while Rossi fell back.
I have a question regarding Marquez's technique though. Is it only me or is he really coming through the corners like one would do in a dirt-bike? I mean, slide into the corner and accelerate from the apex? At one point, I swear I saw his front was facing away from a left hander, and the rear sliding before accelerating on a straight line.Last edited by kilometerkiller; 08-11-2014, 10:27 AM.No matter how bad the day is...

The rear sliding is something that most MotoGP riders don't prefer. Marquez loves to slide, so does A Espargaro, Rossi does it a little, Stoner used to slide around a fair bit as well.Originally posted by kilometerkiller View PostI have a question regarding Marquez's technique though. As for steering right to go left, it's called counter steering. It's the only way to turn a bike. You will be able to notice it with every rider... maybe it's a little bit more pronounced in MM's case.Last edited by dishayu; 08-11-2014, 03:22 PM.Bajaj Pulsar 150 : 2004-2005

Bit of a rant. Quite sure JB is too thick skinned to feel bad about it.Originally posted by kilometerkiller View PostWhat did he say?
Well, Gavin and Neil were speculating that if, MM wraps up the title too soon, he might have a go at Moto2 at one of the rounds.
Did anyone hear that or was it just me?

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Even Ramon Forcada, Lorenzo's chief engineer, is on record saying it is not at all sure that Lorenzo would be any faster on a Honda.Originally posted by Tanzing Sherpa View PostWhat a run by Yamaha. Its good to have lorenzo back.full power edition.

The Yamaha is perfect for Jorge's riding style.::J4RN0::

It could be but comparing to Yamaha,Honda Repsol is faster so its just my assumption. Feels like he could be able to do much in honda.Originally posted by J4rn0 View PostI wouldn't be so sure about that. A great read!Originally posted by Makky View PostStumbled upon a gold mine, may be.
So here is my theory. When Marquez says he is preserving the tire for later part of the race, he is using different riding styles during the race. First few laps, he races with smooth-corner-speed style, thereby using the less of midsection, more of edges of the tire in corners. When the front's midsection is warmed up enough to take the load under hard-braking, he shifts to point-and-shoot V-line strategy, and starts utilising the advantage of RCV's stable chassis and mid-range acceleration.
It seems to me that Dani might be using the same style throughout the race. So during the initial part of the race, tires aren't confidence inspiring for hard-braking, so he stays behind. And during the latter part of the race, he rides in his natural aggressive point-and-shoot style, thus can only catch-up with MM.
My question is, is the RCV capable of doing both smooth-corner-speed style and point-and-shoot style? No matter how bad the day is...

Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates
Of course to a point, any bike allow -- and any rider can apply -- different riding styles. But when one approaches the limit, then the differences in a bike's characteristics (due to chassis geometries, weight distribution, power delivery, etc.) that make it more suitable for one kind of ride become dominant -- and also riders have their different skills, styles and preferences that the more one goes to the limit, the more become automatic.Originally posted by kilometerkiller View PostA great read!

That's why we speak of Yamaha tracks or Honda tracks, Yamaha being the best corner speed machine and Honda the best point and shoot machine. So yes you can do corner speed on a Honda, but it'll probably be slower than a Yamaha doing that. The reverse applies to Yamaha. DNA exists also for bikes and cannot be changed without modifying the bike's design.::J4RN0::
