  • Re: MotoGP 2014 Season - Updates

Marc Marquez needs to change his mascot from an Ant to a Cockroach.

The guy seems to be able to recover from anything... even after getting his head cut off.

If VR, DP and Jl are aliens... MM is Optimus Prime.

It's spectacular to watch the performances he can churn out each race-day irrespective of his position after the first few corners of each race.

This was the first race in years where I didn't really care who won... i just didn't want anyone to crash. hahaha.

It actually felt like someone was going to die. A battle to the death of sorts. Simply Superb.

It was in fact Rossi's best race this season, he led the race for most of the time. The 'old' champ can still race with the current generation that grew up watching him on TV, that's an achievement in itself.

Lorenzo said there is not much to learn following Marquez or Pedrosa, because the Hondas can take lines that the other bikes can't take. It's true. The Honda is the only MotoGP bike that can still effectively point and shoot in 500 style, as opposed to the Yamaha that requires precise and smooth lines and carries corner speed in pure 250 style. Rossi said that the Honda must have also found something new in terms of electronics, because they can brake 20 mt. deeper into corners and open the throttle earlier. Pity Rossi is not riding (and will never ride again) a Honda, that would suit his legendary braking skills wonderfully...

Lot's of action is Moto2 (not so much at the front though).

Below incident when Torres crashed and his bike flew in air, hit Aegerter's bike, broke his fairing but the lad still held on and joined the race. Amazing stuff.

It's the kerbs that are high... Marquez actually complained about that, also at Mugello!
Rossi commented: "Then we should raise them everywhere!"

Truth is, Moto2 has become a good school for riders on the way to MotoGP. The frames are top class, and power is very manageable, so riders can really hone their skills without the "complications" of MotoGP. The latest generation of riders coming from Moto2 all ride in a very spectacular way. Old 250 with less weight and typical 2-strokes power delivery allowed them less creativity, let us say.

PS: Stefan Bradl goes lower and lower as the days go by. I wonder what's more to come! Although he isn't a proper champ (He is!), he's very consistent. I'm sure that he is on Suzuki's list alongside Dovi and Iannone.

I'm hoping to see Bradl on the factory Repsol in 2015.

Lorenzo on the factory Honda. (virtually impossible I know)

Pedrosa on a Suzuki. And Crutchlow on the second M1 with Vale.

MotoGP 2014 for PS3/4 and xBOX is out today.

They say the physics and gameplay is uber realistic. (so no matter what you do you can't overtake Marquez. )

The big question is, WHO can fill the gap and be Marquez' rival? So far MM93 has had no rivals, but he needs one (...well, we certainly do!).

Vale is more Master than Rival in this case. imo. He could do double duty though.

Who else? Pedrosa? Lorenzo? They've been inconsistent so far, but both can fill the role if they put their act together.
Bradl? Hmmm, he leans too much (chuckle).
                    Iannone? Needs a better bike.
                    Espargaro brothers, Bautista? Nah.

                    ?

Can we have Casey Stoner back to MotoGP?

                        1. Stefan Bradl on a factory Honda
                        2. Cal Crutchlow on a factory Yamaha
                        3. Casey Stoner on a factory Honda (but i don't think he'd be one up on MM93 in terms of racecraft.)
                        4. Dani Pedrosa on a factory Suzuki in 2015
                        5. or we could wait a few years for Romano Fenati to graduate to MotoGP.

but none of these guys will beat Marquez if you ask me. not until 2016.

And why do you think he will perform on a Suzuki when he is unable to give his best on the best bike at the moment?

Maybe, Rabat on a factory machine once he moves to MotoGP? That lad looks solid to me.

Exactly! Dani have to look at himself. I like him as a rider, but the results are certainly not in his favor. Feel sorry for that lad. Rabat could be a sensation in MotoGP if given right setup.

Maybe Maverick Vinales, Luis Salom, Alex Rins. These 3 seem to be good bets provided they have good bikes !!

Interesting. But why leave out Rossi and Lorenzo on the factory Yamahas and Pedrosa on the second HRC machine, I'd say these three have much better chances of being able to fight MM than Bradl or Crutchlow (on any bike). Stoner... that's another story, albeit unfortunately a rather improbable one atm. Stoner likes to ride alone (and my goodnes is he fast... could still be the fastest rider on earth), but he doesn't like racing others, and positively hates the social side of being a professional rider. Too bad.
Marquez' toughest competitor is probably going to be old Rossi this season.
