Came to post the same thing. Lovely read and as always Stoner's saga is extremely fascinating.

On a side note another story of another oddball. A very old video but still -

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Anyone wants to wager anything on Lorenzo leaving Yamaha. I think there is literally ZERO chance of that happening.

Time to add a champion poll similar to last year's thread?

Ducati when asked if they had actually had an agreement with Jorge for 2015 with 15 million Euros on line, they said, "really? if that's the case I guess the management should also hire Marc in the same price, cos its still less than what we would spend in R&D

They better not spend anything on R&D as every iteration is making the bike worse than the last one. Marc and Jorge on a Ducati has to be the dream team for Ducati now

Not sure where there careers will head to after that

Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi today unveiled the 2014 Yamaha M1 at the 3S Dealer meeting in Indonesia.
There are no real surprises from Jakarta, and the ‘new’ M1 looks very similar to last year’s. And the year before that. Of course, there are no technical details released.

Also, Lorenzo denied having any type of talks on shifting to any other manufacturer and wants to retire as a Yamaha rider.

                      Ride safe and have fun.

A question guys, might be silly, but I really don't know the reason behind this.
In some corners, most riders just stick their knees out, but some throw their legs wide. Why do they throw their legs wide open ?

                          Not at all silly buddy

Well, even I am not sure..but I believe the leg thing is one of their ways to manage their body weight as the motorcycle enter a turn. It also seems to me that since the racers have to sit up as they slow down the bike considerably, taking the leg out appears to help them in shifting their body weight on the side in which they need to lean the motorcycle, that is, if they need to lean their motorcycle to the right then they take their right leg out to shift their body weight on the right....but it's a guess work from me mixed with some logic....and also not all racers do it

Ya, looks like what you told.
But why I got confused is, on the same curve, some would only take their knee out like normal, but some would stretch their leg.
Maybe @R-series and @The Monk can help better.

That's right, not all racers do it.
If you notice it's actually before getting into the corner, that's when the braking is at max. The rear wheel, at that time has almost negligible weight because of which they have to have a counter balance to keep the balanced while leaning.
Imagine this - right turn, butts on the right side of the seat and you have to brake hard to slow down. Obviously the bike will go out of balance because of the weight being towards right. So they keep their butts on the bike, use their leg to counter balance and keep the bike moving into the corner rather that straight.
That's actually not a technique but an instinct or a riding style.

I think it has got more to do with relaxing/stretching a bit. Don't see the same rider doing it again and again at the same corner.
