Yes Agreed but still when it's question of spending double the money for a relatively more displacement the tables are turned for good.

But the question is how different will it be as compared to the current 250cc motorcycles. Will it have 30+bhp of power? If yes, then my point seems valid!!

V-Max & S1000RR both have 190PS+, what would you choose?

You spend 1.5L for a new entrant, and crib on. Why did bikemanic sell his Hyosung( a good Korean co. manufacturing Motorcycles for decades).

A Mahindra for the coming 10 years(I am pitting very low nos) would not be even a patch on reliability, build quality of a Jap Motorcycle. As this is what TVS & bajaj are trying.

I am not discouraging, but maybe letting few prototypes sent to journalists & working on the feedback shall provide a better & desired result.

      • Seems to be a nice bike technically, given the Italian input.

But, the general indian taste is mostly limited to faired bikes and not naked ones. Except for the xbhp members & other bikers, it might not be easy for Mahindra to justify the looks to others..
Of course, a faired bike can be practical too I believe.

Good big tyres (110+ front and 140+ rear) would instantly be noticed and appreciated by the Indian bikers.

While I have a different bike in a different segment in my mind right now, if I were to purchase this bike, my expectations would be:

        1. Support for Indian Fuel, some 89-91 octane or so... The imported bikes usually have high compression ratio, beyond 11:1 which makes it scary to use Indian fuels on them.

        2. Good After Sales Service. We wouldn't mind using service centres of existing companies, if they've the spares and service quality in order.

        3. Atleast 27-30 bhp. For a naked 300cc twin, this would be easily achievable.

        4. Sporty Riding position. Take the Yamaha FZ's riding position in mind... Somewhat equal to it or little bit more sporty would be great.

the hyosung 250 is air cooled and this bike has a radiator .
pricing it very close to ninja will not find too many buyers ... it should not exceed 2 lacs ex showroom to find more buyers.

          • i agree with niks_devil666.
but i don't think price will be high as ninja, as it would be a locally made bike, and not an import.

besides if i pay more for USD shocks, dual exhausts, etc instead of custom duties, i am satisfied...

but not too much of price like ninja.

Pricing in any case won't exceed 2lakhs, afterall its Mahindra they want to make space in market so pricing is very key. I'm expecting an exshowroom of 1.75lakh

All bikes so far have been naked or bikini, only two Indian full faired bikes we have are the R15 and the ZMR.

I dont see any reason why wont the Indian biker lap this product up if it looks good and goes like a rocket for a price that wont be equal to his yearly income.

                    • I second the take on pricing..to make space in the market they will have to be very aggressive..
@MG_Biker are you one among the select few riders from Mumbai who are riding this bike to Ladkah??

                      • The teaser video I think has created a fairly high expectation level (although the color concept is more in line with 2 of Italy's prestigious auto makers)- Now its upto Mahindra to bring in a product that meets or exceeds the expectations. Personally for me, if its a chinese engine, it will be a huge put-off.

Did this come from my post or...?

The ones I heard from were not a part of xBHP directly... they did something similar for Honda and M&M had approached em.
