Err...Tanay...in a parallel twin, both the pistons move in parallel, just that the firing happens at both the places alternatively. Its like this...Originally posted by tanay View Post

^ Yes, it is "called" a parallel twin. But what is inside the engine is different, and we have proof of that. It is a case of confusing labels and the way they are interpreted.
There's a pic of the N250R's crank posted. If both pistons move in sync then why are the counterweights opposite to each other? They should be on the same side, shouldn't they?200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

Anyway, for some genius "automobile engineers":
The Ninja 250R is called a parallel twin. In actuality, its pistons are offset by 180 degrees, One piston at TDC means other at BDC.
People have opened up a Ninja 250R engine and they have posted pics here, have confirmed on a thread meant exclusively to clarify the confusion.
Please, look here: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...el-twin-2.html
Even owners of Ninja 250's have gotten confused.
If a Ninja 250 had its pistons moving together then it would be a torquier and lower-revving machine.
God save us from half baked knowledge.
Its common knowledge that Ninja is a parallel twin and its also common knowledge that in parallel twins both cylinders move together. So do you suppose just because none of us opened up our engines to see how its happening inside or indeed searched over the internet for links, we have no right to speak?Originally posted by tanay View Post^ Yes, it is "called" a parallel twin. If its wrong you are free to correct it, I do not see the need for calling anyones knowledge half-baked. I suppose you have never been wrong.

The very first post: "for some genius Automobile engineers"
But, given your past posting history, I can quite understand.
I'm not bothered by your posts in the least

Maybe but forum posting certainly isn't yours. Probably, you could perhaps use the "quote" button to be clear which post you are referring to. And a big "whatever" for the last two lines.Originally posted by tanay View PostReading and comprehending is not really your forte, is it?

In anycase, I have gone off-topic enough. Good luck!Last edited by Hyperion; 01-24-2011, 02:38 PM.

I know this is off topic. Anyway I am interested to know the facts behind how the Ninja 250 engine works. I always assumed that Ninja 250 being a parallel twin, the pistons goes up/down together in parallel with alternate firing order as explained by @aargee. If not, can we enlighten ourselves with verifiable source and clear this confusion?ahem...without getting personal

I had called up my dealer for a general enquiry...
He said prices and other details will be announced in March. Also he said that I'll definitely get the delivery in April (April 15th is the tentative date he mentioned).Sudeep P Nambiar
