Even if the Honda has better LE torque, there is no way it can beat a bike that is substantially more powerful than it in a 400m drag UNLESS the Honda drive train so phenomenally efficient that power at crank ~ power at RW.Originally posted by bluevolt View PostI just translated what was written there without being objective. And the Jap Ninja is indeed 31 ps.
Even if what the website said is 100% accurate, it just shows that different motorcycles have different areas where they score. Honda might have a better low end, but not necessarily better in mid and high end.
The LE torque will only help the CBR get off the mark quicker to about 60 kph, after which the Ninja rider (assuming he knows his stuff) should be shifting precisely so that the bike never falls out of its powerband.
So if what the website says is true, then the CBR has phenomal power output efficiency and is basically a steal at 1.5 ex-showroom.Last edited by Hyperion; 01-23-2011, 02:00 PM.

This is by far( apart from Pjames valuable inputs in the form of high res pictures) the crappiest thread so far on the forum. Utter deviation off the main topic, useless chatter and banter, mods should have stepped in ages back.

i have been ignoring this thread, but going thru some of the posts its quite interesting.
battle royal between 3 lakhs and 2 lakhs.
what i feel is that Honda's PR Managers will ensure that their bike will not be a total negation compared to ninja 250 after lunch by sponsoring a few automobile mags.
how ever as long as honda does not develop 33 ps like the ninja, there is not much to compare except the bells and whistles. single cylinder will no way be a smooth operator compared to the ninja twin.
ninja will remain ninja and there is no way the honda can take the space. how ever it can try.
but for me i will be happy to pay the extra 1 lakh for ninja for the extra power, the twin cylinders and a suspension which is spot on an excellent frame plus outstanding and proven reliability.
honda fans, i will be happy to eat my words if the honda wins the comparison hands down in real world tests in India.... I repeat In India. I am waiting.Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

i thought CBR is using a counter weight balancer that reduces the vibrations at higher RPM's like a twin cylinder,as per information its lot less buzzier than the Kawasaki. The redlines of the bikes are also different, ninja goes 2000 rpm higher. and higher the rev, more vibration and theoretically a twin is not suppose to be smooth until unless they are counter acting Crank and the vibration is caused by the piston moving up and down. if there is a pressure variation in any cylinder, even a twin will give vibration. Three or 4 cylinder is suppose to be smooth by design. (3 cylinder should be balanced for smoothness if its V-type 2/1 1-Big counter )
CBR250R is suppose to be smooth as a Twin.
Ninja 250R is also using a counter balancer to reduces vibration.
Ninja counter balancer
all the above stuff is just theory so i don't know if its right.
And lets weight till CBR is out.
For People who think CBR250R is a beefed up ZMA.. please think again.. ZMR is actually a 2002 model Honda CRF150F which was then released as CRF230L (2002 technology) Click here to see the engine

LOL! Isnt this something that we already said? That if Honda wanted a powerful bike, like you claimed the 40 odd bhp CRF, they could have made a engine from the CRF platform rather than making a new one on the CB platform?Originally posted by saikamaldoss View PostFor People who think CBR250R is a beefed up ZMA.. please think again.. Isnt the mods notice enough once, why do you keep draggin other bikes into this discussion. Writing a disclaimer "this may be theory, and lets wait for the bike" in the post doesnt help it.

Yes, essentially, you are correct. The Ninja is a parallel twin, which means both the pistons are in sync with each other. Whereas in an inline engine, the pistons are 180 out-of-phase which each other, this helps keeps the vibrations induced by the pistons linear motion down. Ninja being a parallel twin, the NVH should be similar to an engine with a single cylinder.Originally posted by saikamaldoss View Posti thought CBR is using a counter weight balancer that reduces the vibrations at higher RPM's like a twin cylinder,as per information its lot less buzzier than the Kawasaki. Ninja 250R is also using a counter balancer to reduces vibration.
However I do not agree, that just because a bike revs highers it will also vibrate more. The CBR has a bigger piston going upto 10K RPM , where has the Ninja has two smaller ones revving up a little higher.
If RPM was the sole measure of vibrations then the Enfields would have been the smoothest operators around.

Thanks very much Rahul!... It is just some misconceptions in my mind and lack of the knowledge of the bike internals... I am now finding my questions answered and my mind cleared of incorrect thoughts by people like you.. I am really benefitted by XBHP.. Thanks to all who have crared to answer my questions.Originally posted by Ray13 View PostI know that other people have explained it but just thought I'd make another comparison too
Ambassador 1800 ISZ = 75bhp
Swift Diesel = 74bhp
Amby vs. Swift?
Multiply the thought to a thousand and you have and idea how difficult it is to even begin to explain why a comparison between the Enfield and the Honda is so inappropriate and just downright impossible (ridiculous even).
You're not simply paying for the bhp. You're paying for precision engineering of the highest class, spectacular design and the very last word in reliability. And you're paying for the brilliant ride that comes out of it - a combination of power and refinement that the Enfield Classic can never even hope to achieve. Even if you were to compare it, you need to compare what it DOES with the bhp (and what Enfield doesn't).
Ultimately I hope you're happy with the choice of the Honda. If not, sell your booking and buy the Classic 500. Ultimately its your money and you need to be happy with the way you've spent it.
Cheers
Rahul
Rahul, I have always been a Honda fan and have used Unicorn and Activa. It is only natural that I am upgrading to a Honda. I was for a brief time attracted to bullets for the very thump they make but all that attraction vanished once I got to test ride them. The vibrations, the leakages, sound of the mechanicals... are those I just cant switch to from "Honda" life...
I am happpily and eagerly waiting to ride the Honda

I've never seen so much misinformation concentrated in one single thread.
Anyway, for some genius "automobile engineers":
The Ninja 250R is called a parallel twin. In actuality, its pistons are offset by 180 degrees, One piston at TDC means other at BDC.
People have opened up a Ninja 250R engine and they have posted pics here, have confirmed on a thread meant exclusively to clarify the confusion.
Please, look here: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...el-twin-2.html
Even owners of Ninja 250's have gotten confused.
If a Ninja 250 had its pistons moving together then it would be a torquier and lower-revving machine.
God save us from half baked knowledge.200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER
