Honda can't use the VFR tag since "VF" stands for "V-Four" engine format. In the same way "VT" in "VTR" stands for "V-Twin" engine format. And we all know that this new bike has got a single cylinder.

The CBR tag represents the Super Sports range of bikes from Honda, therefore to market a bike with the name CBR250R as a Touring Bike makes things a bit confusing.

    But then, what's in name..??

    • There is a new MotoGP 250 cc class which is going to replace the current 125 cc 2-stroke class. The rules ( Moto3 Rules Released )
specify a single cylinder engine with a max bore of 81 mm, along with other stuff.

Now that all manufacturers participating in this class will have to develop new bikes for this, we could reasonably expect a few more 250 cc race-replica bikes coming into production, if not to India.

      Honda's already on it:
Honda Worldwide | HRC | Next Racing Standard
      200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

      • ABS or non-ABS

I am contemplating as to which model to buy, ABS or non-ABS.

R15 would be the first Motorcycle for which I will cry a river if it goes, I will be inconsolable.

^trying to change the direction from P-220's top end/250R/R15 comparos.

Nothing is greater than one's life/safety.

I respect Honda for being the first manufacturer to introduce ABS on a made in India bike. Just hope that its not very expensive to put off customers.

spot on Satadal.. I better had used VSR instead (hehe )!! But, we cant deny, the CBR nomenclature has helped quite a lot to compare it with the Ninja, can we?

I feel, it made business sense for Honda to launch this bike with the CBR name, since these three letters commands the utmost pedigree of the Honda line up. I would be honest to say, "I ride a CBR" rather than say a CBF or Hornet!!

            Ride safe, hail trance.

Would it be as intelligent as the one on Grand RR? (term lifted from 10hut)

                  1. The CBR250R looks much better

                  2. The CBR 250R packs in the best of tech

                  3. The CBR 250R promises good performance.
very true !! R15 might justify its price tag with its premium but the ZMR surely cant.

Going by the way, Honda is pitching it, it surely leaves less space to consider this baby as a performer. I feel, had Honda not used the CBR tag, there wont have been so much of fuss of its performance. What about a VFR 250 tag ?

Since the "CBR" tag has long been associated with unadulterated performnace, there is so much of hue & cry about the performance of this bike.

one question to you does the R15 have all the unadulterated performance and technology of the R1? i dont know on what it stands for but common sense tells me its selling tactics !! obviously a CBR or a R will sell better than any other name.

go for ABS bro !! only in india we always seem question spending money on our own safety, no offense bro. i'm pretty sure i will be going for the ABS version.
                  Regardless, Life shall go on.

I dont think we should be comparing or looking at the system from that perspective. It has to be a basic system in the 250.

What matters is how much difference will be there in the efficiency/feedback as compared to the conventional setups on our motorcycles. Even the RTR 180 ABS version is round the corner. It will be interesting to see how the system works...Times are changing in Indian Motorcycle arena.

Hmm.. with Honda about to launch its C-ABS model in India, TVS also might be working hard to be the first manufacturer to introduce ABS in India.

                      Times definitely are changing

Wanted people to deviate from the on going debate & comparisons. Rest assured I would going for ABS and would suggest others to do the same

                            • ^^The specs say that the CBR can never have a competition with the ninja. Even I liked the headlight specs. But if the price turned out to be around 2.5lacs then i would prefer the mojo.
