Guys i am just back from a test ride of the CBR 250RR...

Damn and i thought i didn't forgot any.

Guys i am just back from a test ride of the CBR 250RR. It was a brand new bike and I was first guy to take a test ride. Here are some of the points i noticed in the first 1 min of riding the bike. ( I came to the showroom using my Karizma so immediately felt the difference).

1) Riding Position was top notch. I felt so comfortable and relaxed. I was neither too much bent nor too much straight. After the test ride I felt I was on a moped on my Karizma still and straight and again feeling like i was putting some strain back on my shoulders. I have driven the R15 and found it very uncomfortable for longer rides due to the position. It caused a lot of strain on your back.

2) Balance was great I just drove it on a very rocky road before hitting a smooth road and I purposely tried to slow down the bike and I never felt the need to put my leg down at slower speeds which normally I would do on my Karizma.

3) Gear shift was just like driving a Honda City not a single THAK THAAK even with 1/2 clutch. Karizma makes so much of noise even after pressing the full clutch. It landed to Neutral back without any judgment in my first ride. In the Karizma after so many years or riding I still can't get to neutral properly most of the times when stopping without fiddling around with the gears. I guess may be I am not pro enough but these are some basic problems I did not encounter with the CBR.

4) Engine Sound : OK OK does not sound anywhere like a SBK should. No Complains though. Sounded the best out of all current bikes.

5) Pick Up : I have heard lot of guys talking about low torque in the first gear I too felt that initially that vehicle needed a little bit of raise for pickup but I will tell you one thing this engine is brand new. We will only be able to judge about the pick up after at-least the first service when the engine smooths out a little. But all in all it rocked after the second gear. I raised the bike and the showroom guy sitting behind me was pushed back by a good margin. Front wheelies would be a breeze i guess

Pick up anytime better than R15 , Karizma , ZMA.

6) Horn : Single Horn but loud enough. I don't think i will need to put a second one. It was OK. Not like the ones which come on HH Passion. Peep Peep.

7) Braking : I did not notice a huge difference in the braking on the C-ABS model than my Karizma. It was OK. I guess I will have to go at speeds in access of 80kmph to notice the difference. One thing i noticed for the pillion rider on Karizma is he would always slide down the seat when i use to brake hard but did not happen on the CBR Pillion never moved an inch even after hard brake.

All in all I would suggest as of today CBR beats all the current bikes currently in the market mainly ZMA,R15,P220 in some way or the other maybe design, performance, smoothness etc.

Good Package all in all but there will be loads of bikes in the 250CC range by other companies in sometime which will beat the CBR easily.

After looking at the bike, my wife gave me pat on my back..and told this is the second wise decision you made... I asked her what was the first one..She replied with a Blush..Marrying me... .

ZMR should have been in the first place or not is a wish rather than the reality. The reality is that HH FAILED to graduate to 250 & got struck with 223 cc. Does a mere less of 249-223 = 26 cc contribute to another 8 bhp?

If N250R can show a clean pair of heels to C250R, let be it & that's the additional 8 Bhp difference between C250R & ZMR, isn't it? Human mind is disappointed when there's a huge expectation & when the reality isn't meeting that expectation. When there's already N250R in the market & when there's a rivalry it should always necessitate the rivalry is powerful. Why shouldn't a C-ABS, better FE & most importantly the availability of HMIS service centres all over the country instead of scarce PBK's become positive aspects?

Regarding the pricing, I've no comments. For the moment, this is the best 250CC segment money can buy in this country, otherwise, one has to go for performance improvement programs with ZMA/R to mate with C250R.

Considering the price of performance improvement program + cost of ZMA/R, will that still falls less than 30K of C250R? Even if it does, do we get the same life of a stock engine?

Last but not the least, considering the practicality of this country on both highways & city ride, the best package someone can get is, lesser maintenance expense with good quality ride at affordable cost & decent power. Anyway, even these are very early to comment unless the ownership thread starts.

God, I am now imagining the head turns that you are going to get, including that from the fairer sex. Now I wonder if your wife will be in total agreement to what she said.

All this talk about if the bike is worth the price or is it a worth upgrade etc. But remmeber everyone has a different expectation and everyone has a different back ground. I for one am a fairly tall guy at 6 feet and I have been riding a Unicorn for 3 years. I have never had a problem with the bikes reliability But touting on the unicorn had become strenous so I needed a bit more comfort, speed and High speed cruising on a reliable bike.

I checked this bike and I felt it fit the bill perfectly. Is this a perfect bike?? Hell no. It has its share of problems. But is the perfect bike for "me"?? Hell yeah.

Thats it. Decide if it is something that fits your needs. Then just book it and wait patiently for it to arrive.
