You mean to say Honda people are noobs right?
Its clearly written in the manual not to exceed 60kmph during first 1000 or 1600kms.

Dude the bike is new, engine is new so it wont handle that huge amount of stress at the start. You get a new job and suddenly you are told to manage a huge project, what will you do?

Automobiles are kinda similar to humans as in when the engine is new its advised not to stress it. People have taken their CBRs till 170kmph after the break-in not before that, if you do it before the break-in then you are kinda damaging the engine. This is the case with every bike be it anywhere, any brand!
I feel like Peter Parker when I drive my Hunk in the city but I become Spiderman when I am on my CBR swinging from one lane to the other on expressways.

Why assumptions???!!! I have answered to your post, in which you have compared it with 1 year old baby. Read my reply and try to understand. 2 year old baby will run better than 1 year old; accepted. Will 2 year old bike run better than 1 year?? Did I mention anywhere "Honda people are noobs"????!!!. Don't assume/ineterpret things which was not intented.

Run-in is for the safetly and the lasting of engines. We are doing that in a theoriticaly way, to avoid any such issues. If the top speed of a bike is 150 KM/H, it will reach the top speed if the odo is 0KMs or 1000KMs (There might be a slight differece in the top end and the way of reaching the top end)

Practically modern bike engine will not face any big issues, if run in is not properly done; except ripping the bike and red lining from day one. Old 2 stroke bike's cases are different. Read motoman's way of run-in, did it mean that "Honda people are noobs"????

Any one can correct me, if I am wrong....

      • Sorry to butt in and ask really stupid stupid question on this thread. Can anyone tell me what's the headlight make for CBR250R? I'm asking here after contacting the local H.A.S.S and was told it's 'imported so not sure!'. Then contacted one of the CBR250R owner who could not help me too.

Neither you are getting my point nor I am getting yours. So you mean to say just take the bike out of showroom and it will go at its max speed immediately? Really? Havent heard of it. I have heard people NOT recommending the MOTOMAN's methods, MOTOMAN's methods contradict the Manuals and no MFGR will try to harm its product by giving a wrong info!

There is a reason why you get metal dust in the engine oil when you drain the oil for the first time!
Those metal dusts are the result of high friction developed in the cylinder which prevents the newly assembled components from working with Max. efficiency.
IT takes time for the piston to get used to the cylinder bore and thus you cant achieve top whack until u complete a few kms
This is one reason why most ppl notice engine heating issues and its gone after first service

              • Always go for the best

This post is chiefly for the future owners of CBR 250R. I did test the braking capa of ABS sys and dears, it works real amazing. The braking has not been so easy before I must say. This is not something trifling stuff under discussion. If you guys can spend nearly 1.5 lakhs, you can always add extra 30k dimes to grab one ABS. I would share some of my incidents later of this post. I waited 2 months for the ABS and its turning out to be of highest worth now. I had booked for both Ninja 250R and CBR 250R. But am all contented now with the ABS version. Ninja has good braking capa, I never deny that, but under severe stances, I guess ABS would have an inexorable edge over Ninja. Only testing under really squeezed in type of stances can make you realize what am actually talking about. Does that mean I ask you guys not to go for standard models? Well, the answer is both yes and no. Yes, cuz I want at least xbhpians to get the best for their expenses. No, cuz there would be several buyers outside xbp going for standard models.

My exp- I took some unusual overtakes from left sides, then right and all of a sudden I found my right way is blocked with two auto rickshaws and there was a cbz extreme behind me. He must have thought, its gonna be a bad day for me but I was confident due to ABS.

I just applied BOTH BRAKES HARDER, the babe stopped and again slided thru the left side. It was like left-right-left in just 3-4 secs. Without ABS, the scenario could have been different for sure. Its only the ABS, where you can slide through by changing directions simultaneously under the effect of braking. Without ABS, tire skidding under this condition is kind of inevitable.

For me: Its ABS any day. Life is all about taking chances. Some take this confidently and others in nervous ways. But with ABS, it is the only word that finds its meaning really justified.Yes, its CONFIDENCE
                sigpic
Your bike is way better than babes, only thing is that you need a proper vision to mull over this fact. :D

                  Those are known things

My question is, will the bike reach the top speed if not completed the run-in?

Also did you mean the bikes completed the run-in, will not face heating issues?

If the bike has been maintained well and if there are no other mechanical problems .. why would there be heat issue?

You have to shoot this question to the bike company, but you didn't answer to my question and that is what we are discussing. We have to do a proper run-in to have a bike in good condition; period.

The manual mentions the following for running in..

"Help assure your vehicles future reliability and performance by paying extra attention to how you ride for the first 500 kms.
During this period, avoid full throttle starts and rapid acceleration."

So, I guess one is not supposed to test the bike's top speed during the running-in although it does not explicity say so. Also, nothing is mentioned about rpm's. The dealer told us to keep it b/w 4k and 5k rpm. I have occasionally reached about 80 kms/hr but I usually drive at around 60kms/hr.

I have done around 150 kms in all, and I did not find any heating issues. I can feel the engine heat only while driving in traffic jams or waiting at signals. the temp ind still shows 3 bars (which is normal).

A couple of other things that might be of users to owners...

Fuel tank capacity is 13 ltrs. Single bar on the indcator means approx 3.5 ltrs of fuel.
For chain lubrication.. lubricant for o ring chain should be used. If its not available. SAE80 or 90 gear oil can be used.

                        • Getting my CBR today guys. I will look for scratches and all things mentioned in this thread verl closely. Infact I did that already and bike looked OK. Any other thing to check? All this talk about lubricating the chain is still not clear to me. Do I need to get it done immediately after delivery or how often is it required?
Already disposed my 10 year old P180 last week which I was driving very rarely. I have not done too much of bike driving during last year. Will it be a concern driving the new CBR from showroom to home?

                          TIA

Yes of-course..That's a major concern..It is very difficult to ride a bike with lots of people staring at your ride. Do you have any experience of this kind in that last one year ??

Kidding dude..Enjoy your ride. Good luck and all the best..

About lubricating, don't worry, it is a dry chain (no greasing required). All you need is a chain cleaning/lubricating spray (MOTUL is what I use.. Rs 450). Dont worry about it now. The bike what they give to you will have a lubricated chain. Lubrication will be done again when you give it for the first service. Just enjoy your ride..

As far as my exp, Every time I get my bike washed, I use this spray to clean/lube the chain.
