  • it's funny how everyone gets ahead of themselves with wild speculation.

in reality... this is an updated R15... not an upgraded one.
    same engine... similar power figures.
this is, in all likelyhood almost entirely a visual "upgrade" only.

as long as you don't "sell" the pics to any other print publication...
BI won't really bother if the pics are on a hundred blogs online.

+1, only thing which I disliked in present R-15 was it's rear and if it is taken care of then it will be a perfect bike. I am seriously thinking of buying it now

          Just my thought!
buddy wen u talk of upgrades ur point is absolutely right but i meant if the there ws a bigger engine i.e. a new bike then it had to have a totally new look.......just as u said about the r1.in r1's case the bike is same but just gets some changes here n there but if yamaha on't put a bigger engine in r1's body n call it a new bike........ the body wud also b different.......

Top end performance is r15s main attraction, but with those fat tires? There should be definitely some changes in power figures. May be a bored over engine too, who knows.

I don't think the engine/chassis will be touched, as they are ages of ahead of their time.
A fatter tyre can be incorporated into the existing chassis. I guess the RTR 180's 110/70/17" would be a good fit to the bike. A 120 would make accelaration even more sluggish though.
Actually I'm also eagerly waiting to see what they are doing to the tyres, coz my bike's tyres are due for replacement&if a better tyre can be fit, I would be glad.

The rims and the rear swing arm on the new bike are from R125 so I don't think the rear tyre will fit the existing R15 rim.

Then again may be it will turn out to be just a cosmetic upgrade. But considering the upcoming cbr250,ktm mini duke, etc that chances are low.(?)

                      • @REAPER: even if the chances are low, expect one or two ps that's all!! cuz to me it seems like only a face-lift! may be yamaha can sell this bike to compete with CBR150R in the markets where CBR150R will be launched!!

Yeah ,1 or 2 ps may be. But as long as there is some power difference im good. And no doubt it will be a great match for cbr150.
                          Lets wait and see,

Great, so now everyone crying for fat tires suddenly don't want it when they are getting one... Wow, you cannot satisfy everyone.
