Mine was from First lot of bikes ..and now with my frnds we have around 25 R15 bikes ..
I don't know abt the Top wack .. difference between First lot of bikes and the new ones ... BUT .. Surely i can say the new Bikes will give better Milage than the first lot bikes ... i have enough evidence for this .. as we oftenly checked for these figures ... the new bikes can give up to 42kmpl milage compare to first lot bikes which gives around 30-35kmpl max .. [Mine 33kmpl].
and i heard from some officials [which i forgot whom] .. the new Engns were better tuned ...
And i think its correct way .. evolution will only improve things from past to future

Don't remember the date but the bikes with new racing colors are from the new batch. Bikes bearing chassis number starting with 20P1 are the old batch whose parts were manufactured in Indonesia. Apart from the localised ECU with a retarded curve for better low end torque and fuel efficiency in the newer R15s there's no other difference that I know of. But the old bikes did reach good top speeds of 145kph+ (speedo) while fully crouched on declines but no one has confirmed here if they have been able to do similar speeds on the newer R15s yet. But with the different ECU settings they might not do the same speeds as our old bikes.Originally posted by ullal_h View Postsince when did yamaha start making MADE IN INDIA R15s. i believe the locally made R15s struggles to reach a top whack of 120kmph unlike the MADE IN INDONESIAs which were earlier ones--------------------------------

i dont think there is much difference in Top end b/w new and old bikes ..Originally posted by KwokFist View PostDon't remember the date but the bikes with new racing colors are from the new batch. mine i touched 148kmph on speedo with proper riding position and gear shift ... and easily can touch 135kmph mark again with proper riding position and gear shift .. and i think the new one also can easily touch 125kmph + mark... the main thing ppl here will forget is ..the proper gear shift to achive the Top wack of 135+kmph speed ...
anyhow .. i expect the new bike to be much smoother and more fuel efficient than more towards Top wack and power ..
in practical sense .. more fuel efficient will work out as bike used rarely [or weekend] long drive ..where u need to more speed [not more than 120kmph...and i never recomend anyone to cruise more than 100kmph on highway ...remeber the govt speed limit is 50-70kmph for 2 wheeler]

this topic has been Disscussed a lot and was mislead with speculations.
I own a 2010 baby R1. My top speed achived is 142 KMPH (Felt it could have gone more with more stretch of road). It is giving me a good milage of 35 in my Insane rides. I'm able to do aran se 125 KMPH for long stretchs.sigpic
Tijo Joy
Max Speeds : 85 KMPH - (Kinetic Honda - 1998)

I do not think that CBR 150 is coming to india in near future. People still need to wait for the CBR250 till April..

To comment on the debate on the previous pages of difference between indian and imported engines
- Differences - Cant comment on acceleration since i have not ridden the indian one that hard, but yes, the engine is more gruffier compared to the previous one ( if you can understand gruffier that is ).
- I remember reading Joel's post in the R15 performance ECU thread, that the indian engine has an indian ECU, which is slightly retarted as compared to the first ones.
How can this be clarified?
Those of you who have a lot of friends with R15s, install the Old ECU from the first gen bikes, into the new one, and see if there is any difference, or vice versa.
But issues with the second gen bikes? Yes apparently a few bikes did surface which had oil flow issues, and some had seizures as well ( told to me by a source in yamaha ).
Other mods, the clutch housing was modded to eliminate the rattle of the housing going loose. "Maybe" the clutch was made similar to the FZ-16 ( someone will have to open the housing of a new gen R15 to confirm that ), Thats why i said maybe. And clutch plates for the FZ are much cheaper than that for the R15.
But honestly, i am still to see a bike doing 140kmph other than videos on YT, and everyone's claim here. The max that i saw on my bike ( decline, 2700 kms run, running fully synth, slight tail wind, fully crouched with helmet touching tank, and tucked in, all 65 kgs of me ( at that time! lol! ) ) was 139kmph. And all my friends here made similiar claims.
My offerings to the gods of speed -
- KTM Duke 200
- Yamaha RXZ 5 speed
