  • increasing price may not be a good idea according to me..
at Rs.1,16,000/- on road in bangalore, it is already a pretty expensive machine. with localization of components, i think yamaha should aim at bringing better broduct at reduced cost!

    • If the present price of the R15 is maintained, then with the current speculated rear end change, the bike might still prevent the attrition of customers to the CBR250R. After all the R15 is a very very sweet handler. Its a proper track bike.

An increase in price might just make the buyer think that "Why don't I stretch a Rs. 15-20 thousand.. get 100 cc / 8 Ps extra.. and get the CBR tag as well?"

      Comment

      • Now everything is coming down to the pricing. we have to wait and watch the price tag which both r-15 RVR and CBR 250 carries. Based on that only we can decide on which bike to go for.

it doesn't matter even if your speedo shows 200 Kmph ...what matters is Actual Top Speed and not this type of figures..

+100 increasing cost price of this bike with same engine will result in low sales..

A stock R15 is capable of doing true speeds of around 135-137.....which by any standards is 'furious' in Indian standards...!

yes i agree it's Fastest in 150cc to 180cc Category but it can't go above true Top Whack of 130-131 kmph... if you don"t trust me then read this--

Though I dont want to drag this...just adding a few bits for better info.

Whatever figures are mentioned by magazines/blogs/websites are 'numbers' which they managed to achieve....

They might not always be 100% figures...

                  • It seems that Yamaha is already aware that CBR will be priced on the higher side as mentioned in this article Honda CBR250R bookings to start from March 2011 @ Rs 15k

that may be the reason why they are thinking of increasing the price of new R-15, I am just praying that they leave the price untouched

when i bought my r15 back in august 2008. it had an on road price of 1.07 lacs. my bike also has the imported engine. i think yamaha is only interested in robbing people of their hard earned money. they are making good profits now so why should they invest in designing a new 250 cc r series machine. every body knows what yamaha was doing 3 years back. all they did was to bring out some s#$%t 100 cc machines hoping to gain some profits with volume sales. when they realised that they are not going any where they finally woke up from their slumber and got their best designers to design the best bike in india back then-the r15. now yamaha is only interested in designing some stickers and plastic parts for the fz(talking about the fazer). and to top it all they most probably are going to launch a cosmetically modified r15 with a price hike. bull s!@#t with this strategy. i don't care how the hell the r15 looks. all i care about is the performance.one more thing this fz bike is the most over rated and over priced bike . my r15 gives better mileage than all the fz's of my friends. this it self proves the fact that here people shell out cash for looks and not performance. no reason why companys are using their R&D wing to design nothing but some crap stickers and paint schemes. wake up yamaha.i am waiting with cash to buy something meaningful. if yamaha could invest some micro amounts to do a market research on how many takers are there for a possible FZ250 or an R25 they would be making the next big step to their domination in india.

superbikes are the biggest blunders on indian roads.

                        • the r15 was designed for the tracks and the fz for the streets. the fz is much better than any 150cc in the streets. you can't totally say its just the looks factor.

i dont want to hurt any fz owners with my comments. i just expressed my opinion. just take it in the right spirit. my opinions are based on some of the feed backs i got from some friends who own the FZ.
